I've never done it before and personally I wouldn't want to.
If I'm not mistaken though you do get into quite a bit of trouble if you are found out to have skipped jury duty and aren't really sick.
Personally I think that the best system for jury duty would be to have people volunteer themselves forward rather than forcing people into doing it that would rather be anywhere else.
