The Strangers is ok but I find it very overrated and neither characters were likeable enough and I think it relies on jump scares a lot plus the killers motive was pretty lame. Just because, oh ok...?
Wheras I adore Vacancy, the scene when the husband finds the snuff tapes is genuinely horrifying, imagine the panic you would feel finding a VHS of people being butchered in the very hotel room you're sitting in. I also think the motive was pretty good and the villains creepy as in they're just normal guys.
