Spoilers for next week
[spoil]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jane fights for her life after being gunned down by Steven. As blood pours down from the bullet wound in her stomach, she is dangerously close to death.
She is rushed by ambulance to the hospital for surgery, and Ian is frantic with worry that he is about to lose his wife for ever.
“During that desperate struggle in the flat, the gun just went off!” says Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian. “Ian wonders whether Steven shot Jane on purpose or whether it was an accident.
“At this point, however, Ian’s first priority is Jane and getting her to hospital before it is too late.” At the start of the week, Jane drops to the floor after taking the full impact of the bullet, and Steven runs away from the scene.
While Jane is being carried into the ambulance, Lucy lies to the police about what happened, in an attempt to protect big brother Steven.
“Lucy tells them a completely different version of events,” explains Adam.
“She makes up something about a mugger who was after Ian’s wallet.” Before Jane is taken into the operating theatre, emotional Ian tells her how much he loves her * and that he wants to have a baby with her! Jane gives him a huge smile.
“At that moment, Ian has realised how much he loves Jane,” adds Adam. “He wants them to have a child and for their family to be complete.” Ian assures a shaken Lucy that Steven, and the gun, are now gone. But later when she returns to the family home, Lucy is stunned to find Steven there.
Troubled Steven sobs as he admits the frail mental state he is in. Lucy convinces him to come to the hospital to tell her father about it.
Ian furiously confronts Steven in the hospital car park, but when he too realises that the boy is sick, tears of sympathy well up in Ian’s eyes.
“It’s then that Ian realises something isn’t quite right with Steven,” reveals Adam. “When Steven opens up, Ian feels for him. He seeks professional help for the lad.” Ian books an emergency appointment at a private health clinic. Steven seems relieved when he hears he can stay there for treatment.
Later, back at the hospital, the surgeon breaks some devastating news to Ian.
“The doctors working on Jane ran into major complications. What Ian is told is going to have repercussions for the whole family,” explains Adam. “It will take Ian a long time to get over this.”[/spoil]
