The clue’s in the name ‘wo-man’ or ‘womb-man’.Females in most of the animal kingdom are generally the nurturing,maternal ones of the species(obvs with exceptions to the rule) and humans aren’t that much more special really.
Unfortunately biology is a thing.

Trying to fight billions of years of evolution isn’t an easy task and would probably take another few million years.
One of the main things that differentiates males and females is the females maternal nurturing instincts.
Yeah men love their kids more than anything else but they(generally) don’t have that primal instinct to want to spend all their day looking after the little beggers.

At the end of the day while freedom of choice and biology exist more women overall will choose to spend the time with the kids and less time forging a career.It’s in their nature.
Measuring mens and womens pay over a lifetime or as a whole in an organisation is meaningless unless you compare like for like rate in one particular role which hopefully those inequalities are minimal or non existent i would agree.
