Default I've been rewatching The X Factor.

Basically because we've had no new X Factor this year I've started a rewatch of some of the previous series and see if my opinion on the contestants have changed over the years.

So far I've watched series 6, 7 & 8. And I might go for Series 9 as my next rewatch because Nicky91 has got me interested after his Carolynne thread.

I found it interesting to see how my opinions unfold without seeing the Show's propaganda and just solely listening to the performances to form my opinion of the contestants.

Anyway here's my rankings of the performances from Series 6.

I won't always be judging on who's the best vocalist, but who's performances I just take to, so yes Jedward will have some high places.

Live Show 1:
1. Joe McElderry - No Regrets
2. Danyl Johnson - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going
3. Jedward - Rock DJ
4. Lucie Jones - Footprints In The Sand
5. Stacey Solomon - The Scientist
6. Jamie Archer - Get It On
7. Miss Frank - Who's Lovin You

4. Joe McElderry - Where Do Broken Hearts Go
5. Olly Murs - A Fool In Love

10. Rikki Loney - Respect
11. Lloyd Daniels - Bleeding Love

Live Show 3:
1. Lucie Jones - My Funny Valentine
2. Jedward - She Bangs
3. Rachel Adedeji - Proud Mary
4. Jamie Archer - Angel Of Harlem
5. Joe McElderry - Sway
6. Olly Murs - Bewitched
7. Stacey Solomon - When You Wish Upon A Star
8. Danyl Johnson - Feeling Good
9. Miss Frank - That's Life
10. Lloyd Daniels - Fly Me To The Moon

Live Show 4:
1. Joe McElderry - Don't Stop Believin
2. Jedward - We Will Rock You
3. Lucie Jones - Sweet Child O Mine (I know that her vote died due to this performance but I personally thought that she sounded fine)
4. Stacey Solomon - Somewhere Only We Know
5. Jamie Archer - Rocks
6. Rachel Adedeji - One
7. Olly Murs - Come Together
8. Lloyd Daniels - I Kissed A Girl

It was a fun series to rewatch, the final 5 could've been fixed up in places, but considering how ****ty the world is at the moment it took my mind off things.

For fun I'm gonna add up where I placed the contestants in each Live Show to a points total and see where they'd place in the series from my perspective.

Yes leaving early is a disadvantage because for example Kandy Rain's 2 points that I gave them on Live Show 1 is not gonna see them get past anyone. But hopefully it'll still be fun regardless.

Ties in the points will be separated by who won more nights in my eyes, and if that's a tie then I'll favour who came bottom of a night less out of the two of them.

1st Place - Joe McElderry - 81 points
2nd Place - Stacey Solomon - 53 points
3rd Place - Jedward - 51 points
4th place - Danyl Johnson - 40 points
5th place - Jamie Archer - 39 points
6th place - Olly Murs - 39 points
7th place - Lucie Jones - 37 points
8th place - Rachel Adedeji - 24 points
9th place - Lloyd Daniels - 19 points
10th place - Miss Frank - 11 points
11th place - Rikki Loney - 7 points
12th place - Kandy Rain - 2 points

I'll do Series 7's rankings either later or at some point tomorrow.

Onto Series 8, I actually think that the rewatch of this series helped improve my opinion of this series compared to when I watched it the first time around as I got to just listen to the performances rather than get aggravated by the judges comments and OTT nastiness that befell Misha B and Janet Devlin throughout the series, Sophie Habibis and Frankie Cocozza didn't get it too much better either sometimes.

Anyway there were a lot of strong performances throughout the series, and a few iconic bad ones too.

Anyway here's my rankings of the performances from each Live Show.

Live Show 1:
1. Janet Devlin - Fix You
2. Misha B - Rolling In The Deep
3. Sophie Habibis - Teenage Dream
4. Craig Colton - Jar Of Hearts
5. Kitty Brucknell - Who Wants To Live Forever
6. The Risk - She Said
7. Little Mix - Super Bass
8. Amelia Lily - Billie Jean
9. Sami Brookes - Free
10. James Michael - Ticket To Ride
11. Marcus Collins - Moves Like Jagger
12. Frankie Cocozza - The A Team
13. 2 Shoes - Something Kinda Ooooh
14. Johnny Robinson - Believe
15. Jonjo Kerr - You Really Got Me (potential but that particular performance was really awkward)
16. Nu Vibe - Beautiful People (the song choice didn't compliment them imo)

Live Show 2:
1. Kitty Brucknell - It's Oh So Quiet
2. Misha B - Would I Lie To You?
3. Janet Devlin - Can't Help Falling In Love
4. Marcus Collins - Russian Roulette (a flawed performance but an interesting performance for me)
5. Sophie Habibis - Wherever You Will Go (again a flawed performance but in this case I do just like Sophie's voice, even when she's not sounding her best)
6. Little Mix - I'm Like A Bird
7. Craig Colton - Best Thing I Never Had
8. The Risk - Just The Way You Are
9. Sami Brookes - I Will Always Love You
10. Johnny Robinson - Can't Get You Outta My Head
11. Nu Vibe - With Or Without You
12. Frankie Cocozza - The Scientist

Live Show 3:
1. Sophie Habibis - Livin On A Prayer (I honestly don't get how she came third from bottom with this performance)
2. Marcus Collins - Are You Gonna Go My Way
3. Misha B - Purple Rain
4. Johnny Robinson - I Believe In A Thing Called Love
5. Kitty Brucknell - Live And Let Die
6. Janet Devlin - Sweet Child O Mine
7. Craig Colton - Stop Crying Your Heart Out
8. Sami Brookes - If I Could Turn Back Time
9. Frankie Cocozza - Rocks
10. Little Mix - Tik Tok/Push It (what a Rock tune)
11. The Risk - Crazy (again what a Rock tune)

Live Show 4:
1. Little Mix - E.T
2. Kitty Brucknell - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
3. Craig Colton - Set Fire To The Rain
4. Sophie Habibis - Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)
5. Misha B - Tainted Love
6. Janet Devlin - Every Breath You Take
7. Marcus Collins - Superstition

Live Show 5:
1. Marcus Collins - Reet Petite
2. Misha B - Proud Mary
3. Kitty Brucknell - Like A Prayer
4. Craig Colton - Heaven
5. The Risk - A Night To Remember
6. Little Mix - Don't Stop The Music
7. Janet Devlin - I Want You Back
8. Johnny Robinson - Hung Up/You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)
9. Frankie Cocozza - I Gotta Feeling (no offence to any of his fans, but what were you guys smoking when voting for him after this trainwreck lol?) By his standards this was way below par.

Live Show 6:
1. Amelia Lily - The Show Must Go On
2. Craig Colton - Paparazzi
3. Janet Devlin - Somebody To Love
4. Little Mix - Radio Ga Ga/Telephone
5. Marcus Collins - Another One Bites The Dust
6. Misha B - Born This Way
7. Kitty Brucknell - Don't Stop Me Now

Live Show 7: I'm prepared for some controversy on one of my placings here as I'm definitely in the minority on who won the night.
1. Janet Devlin - Kiss Me
2. Little Mix - Don't Let Go (Love) (this performance is insanely popular for LM I know, but I just prefer Janet's performance more)
3. Misha B - I Have Nothing
4. Amelia Lily - Think
5. Marcus Collins - (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher
6. Craig Colton - Licence To Kill

Live Show 8 First Round:
1. Amelia Lily - China In Your Hand
2. Marcus Collins - I'm Your Man
3. Misha B - Girls Just Want To Have Fun

4. Misha B - Dancing In The Street

Live Show 9 Second Round:
1. Misha B - Perfect
2. Amelia Lily - I'm With You
3. Little Mix - If I Were A Boy
4. Marcus Collins - Can You Feel It

Live Show 10 First Round:
1. Amelia Lily - Ain't No Other Man
2. Little Mix - You Got The Love
3. Marcus Collins - Hey Ya

Live Show 10 Second Round:
1. Amelia Lily & Kelly Rowland - River Deep Mountain High
2. Marcus Collins & Gary Barlow - She's Always A Woman
3. Little Mix & Tulisa - If I Ain't Got You

Live Show 10 Fourth Round:
1. Little Mix - Silent Night

2. Little Mix - Cannonball

Hello Caprimint, welcome to the thread.

Rewatching these seasons made me fully realise just how downhill in quality the later on seasons had dropped to, it's unbelievable to see the difference.

Well I finished Series 9 off yesterday and it was my least favourite rewatch so far, don't get me wrong it's still a decent series with some great performances.

But there were also a lot of really bad performances and the public vote on certain nights were really questionable imo.

Live Show 1:
1. Kye Sones - Man In The Mirror
2. MK1 - Champion/Every 1's A Winner
3. James Arthur - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)
4. Melanie Masson - With A Little Help From My Friends
5. Carolynne Poole - Starships (an odd song choice but I thought that she sung it well)
6. Christopher Maloney - Hero (Mariah Carey's Hero)
7. Lucy Spraggan - Mountains
8. Ella Henderson - Rule The World
9. Jahmene Douglas - Imagine
10. Jade Ellis - Hero (Enrique Iglesias's Hero)
11. Rylan Clark - Gold
12. Union J - Don't Stop Me Now
13. District3 - The Best

Live Show 2:
1. Christopher Maloney - Alone (iconic)
2. Union J - Bleeding Love/Broken Strings
3. James Arthur - No More Drama
4. MK1 - I Want You Back
5. Melanie Masson - Never Tear Us Apart
6. Jade Ellis - Love Is A Losing Game
7. Lucy Spraggan - Gold
8. Rylan Clark - Back For Good/Groove Is In The Heart/Gangnam Style/Pump Up The Jam
9. Jahmene Douglas - Tears Dry On Their Own/Ain't No Mountain High Enough
10. Kye Sones - Love The Way You Lie (Part II)/Thank You
11. District3 - I Swear
12. Ella Henderson - Lovin You (this performance grinds my gears as Peter Griffin would say)

Live Show 3:
1. Kye Sones - Save The World (how this performance was in the bottom two I'll never know)
2. Christopher Maloney - Waiting For A Star To Fall (hilarious)
3. MK1 - Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)/Pass Out
4. James Arthur - Sexy And I Know It
5. Lucy Spraggan - Titanium
6. District3 - Beggin/Turn Up The Music
7. Union J - When Love Takes Over
8. Ella Henderson - You Got The Love
9. Rylan Clark - On The Floor/Don't Stop The Music/I See You Baby
10. Jahmene Douglas - I Say A Little Prayer
11. Jade Ellis - Free

Live Show 4:
1. James Arthur - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
2. Christopher Maloney - (I Just) Died In Your Arms
3. Kye Sones - Let Me Entertain You
4. Jahmene Douglas - Killing Me Softly
5. Rylan Clark - Toxic/Horny/Poison
6. District3 - Every Breath You Take/Beautiful Monster (truly shocking with all due respect)
7. Union J - Sweet Dreams (it was just a really flat performance from them imo)
8. Ella Henderson - Bring Me To Life (Ella butchered the best song on the night imo, but in fairness this kind of song shouldn't have been given to Ella in the first place)
9. Jade Ellis - Freak Like Me (it's one of those performances where it's just wrong on every level)

Live Show 5:
1. Christopher Maloney - All By Myself
2. Ella Henderson - Firework (finally a song choice that suits Ella's voice a little better)
3. Union J - Love Story
4. Kye Sones - You Get What You Give
5. Jahmene Douglas - Listen
6. James Arthur - Don't Speak
7. District3 - Dynamite
8. Rylan Clark - Hung Up/Gimme Gimme Gimme!(A Man After Midnight)

Live Show 6:
1. James Arthur - Hometown Glory
2. Christopher Maloney - I'm Still Standing
3. Ella Henderson - Written In The Stars
4. Rylan Clark - Say You'll Be There/Who Do You Think You Are/Wannabe/Spice Up Your Life
5. Jahmene Douglas - Angels
6. Union J - Fix You
7. District3 - Tears In Heaven

Live Show 7:
1. Christopher Maloney - Total Eclipse Of The Heart
2. Jahmene Douglas - Don't Leave Me This Way
3. James Arthur - Can't Take My Eyes Off You
4. Union J - Call Me Maybe
5. Rylan Clark - Girls On Film/When Will I Be Famous
6. Ella Henderson - You're The One That I Want

Live Show 8 First Round:
1. James Arthur - SOS
2. Christopher Maloney - Fernando
3. Union J - The Winner Takes It All
4. Jahmene Douglas - I Have A Dream
5. Rylan Clark - Mamma Mia

Live Show 8 Second Round:
1. James Arthur - Let's Get It On
2. Christopher Maloney - Dancing On The Ceiling
3. Union J - I'll Be There
4. Jahmene Douglas - The Tracks Of My Tears
5. Rylan Clark - Baby Love/Stop In The Name Of Love/You Keep Me Hangin On

Live Show 9 First Round:
1. Christopher Maloney - You Raise Me Up
2. Jahmene Douglas - I Look To You
3. James Arthur - One
4. Union J - Beneath Your Beautiful

Live Show 9 Second Round:
1. James Arthur - The Power Of Love (an incredible performance)
2. Union J - I'm Already There
3. Christopher Maloney - Haven't Met You Yet
4. Jahmene Douglas - At Last

Live Show 10 First Round:
1. James Arthur - Feeling Good
2. Christopher Maloney - What A Feeling
3. Jahmene Douglas - Move On Up

Live Show 10 Second Round:
1. James Arthur & Nicole Scherzinger - Make You Feel My Love
2. Christopher Maloney & Gary Barlow - Rule The World
3. Jahmene Douglas & Nicole Scherzinger - The Greatest Love Of All

Live Show 10 Third Round:
1. James Arthur - Let's Get It On
2. Jahmene Douglas - Angels

Live Show 10 Final Round:
1. James Arthur - Impossible (easily one of TXF's best winner's singles imo)
2. Jahmene Douglas - Let It Be

It was definitely interesting to see how talented singers like Ella and Jade were sabotaged nearly every Live Show, and how Kye got done a kipper with that Live Show 2 performance with the general public.

4th Place - Jahmene Douglas - 41 points

It's definitely the year where me and the public have disagreed the most on so far.

Out of interest what is the Series that those of you on TIBB disagreed with the public's opinion on the most?

This has been a really interesting read Mock.

I doubt I could punish myself to watch old X Factor's, however reading some of those performances, had me thinking I'd like to see some again.

I smiled as I thought of Jedward's performances, that was a really good series.
( Yes, I still like Jedward and still play their music too, particularly the Young Love cd.)

I see your view of Katie Waissel didn't alter much on second watching.
All I recall of her is her forgetting her lyrics.

Well done on taking that on, watching them again.
Some really strong performances were in those series.

Thanks Joey.

Tbh Jedward's performances are just a load of fun to me, they always gave 100% to every performance and delivered some surprising moments throughout the series.

And with Katie Waissel I actually hated her a lot less this time around (I suppose it's not putting up with the VT's and stuff) but apart from Help! Her other performances were mostly quite chronic imo, I don't know if it was just bad song choices or she's just not very good, but I just couldn't get into most of her performances. Her Live Show 2 performance was also okay in my view.

And I agree with you that there were some really strong performances from those series, and from different contestants too rather than the Show just pushing the same people every week like what sadly started to creep in from around about Series 10 or 11.

Shayne did well considering he was from Series 2.

And ****ting hell at James Arthur's numbers.

Well I've just completed my rewatch of Series 5 and I've got to say that initially I was deeply concerned as I was a child when it initially aired so I was worried about the contestants not being as good as I remembered them. And then the first Live Show happened where there were about 5 really bad performances on the night (one in particular being really woeful) but thankfully the series did get better as it goes along with some strong performances (even from contestants you wouldn't expect) and one contestant that has won me over on a rewatch when I quite disliked them as a kid.

There was one contestant however that never really got any better imo. But you'll gather who that will be when I start my rankings for each Live Show.

Overall it probably ended up being my favourite rewatch just for the sheer consistency that every Live Show offered something (maybe with the exception of the Britney theme) and overall talent that was in the lineup.

Live Show 1:
1. Diana Vickers - With Or Without You
2. Ruth Lorenzo - Take My Breath Away
3. Alexandra Burke - I Wanna Dance With Somebody
4. Austin Drage - Every Breath You Take
5. Rachel Hylton - With Every Heartbeat - an odd song choice for Rachel, but I liked her voice.
6. Laura White - Fallin
7. JLS - I'll Make Love To You
8. Eoghan Quigg - Imagine
9. Daniel Evans - I Want To Know What Love Is
10. Girlband - Venus
11. Bad Lashes - It Must Have Been Love
12. Scott Bruton - Yeh Yeh - Wow! The ultimate sabotage.

Live Show 2:
1. Austin Drage - Billie Jean
2. Diana Vickers - Man In The Mirror
3. Rachel Hylton - Dirty Diana
4. Ruth Lorenzo - I Just Can't Stop Loving You
5. Alexandra Burke - I'll Be There
6. JLS - The Way You Make Me Feel
7. Scott Bruton - She's Out Of My Life - trust the GBP to have given him less votes when he gives a better performance.
8. Laura White - You Are Not Alone
9. Eoghan Quigg - Ben
10. Girlband - Heal The World
11. Daniel Evans - One Day In Your Life

Live Show 3:
1. Rachel Hylton - Feeling Good
2. Ruth Lorenzo - Summertime
3. Diana Vickers - Smile
4. Alexandra Burke - Candyman
5. Austin Drage - Mack The Knife
6. Laura White - God Bless The Child
7. JLS - Ain't That A Kick In The Head?
8. Scott Bruton - That's Life
9. Daniel Evans - The Lady Is A Tramp
10. Eoghan Quigg - L-O-V-E - God this was so cringy. I don't get how the production thought that this performance would make Eoghan sound good to anyone that's a neutral or a detractor of Eoghan?

Live Show 4:
1. Ruth Lorenzo - No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)
2. Diana Vickers - Call Me - An odd song choice for someone that clearly should've been singing songs like Zombie by The Cranberries, but she rose to the occasion really well imo.
3. Alexandra Burke - On The Radio
4. JLS - Working My Way Back To You/Forgive Me Girl
5. Austin Drage - Wishing On A Star
6. Daniel Evans - Don't Leave Me This Way
7. Laura White - Somebody Else's Guy
8. Rachel Hylton - Lost In Music
9. Eoghan Quigg - Could It Be Magic

Live Show 5:
1. Daniel Evans - Open Arms - I thought that Simon was really harsh here, this was easily Daniel's strongest performance. And with all due respect but how can the person that has Eoghan Quigg attack another contestant for bad singing.
2. Alexandra Burke - Without You
3. Rachel Hylton - Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)
4. JLS - One Sweet Day
5. Eoghan Quigg - Anytime You Need A Friend
6. Laura White - Endless Love - the theme just didn't suit Laura imo.
7. Ruth Lorenzo - My All - the same issue as Laura.

Live Show 6:
1. Ruth Lorenzo - Angels
2. Diana Vickers - Yellow - bar the odd note straining her voice a bit, she covered the song a lot better than some singers who haven't been sick.
3. Rachel Hylton - You Know I'm No Good
4. Alexandra Burke - You Are So Beautiful
5. JLS - I Want To Hold Your Hand/Twist And Shout/Hey Jude
6. Daniel Evans - It's Not Unusual
7. Eoghan Quigg - One More Try

Live Show 7:
1. Ruth Lorenzo - Love Ain't Here Anymore
2. Diana Vickers - Patience
3. Rachel Hylton - Rule The World
4. Alexandra Burke - Relight My Fire
5. Eoghan Quigg - Never Forget
6. JLS - A Million Love Songs

Live Show 8 First Round:
1. JLS - Baby One More Time
2. Ruth Lorenzo - I Love Rock N Roll
3. Diana Vickers - I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman
4. Alexandra Burke - Toxic
5. Eoghan Quigg - Sometimes

Live Show 8 Second Round:
1. Alexandra Burke - Listen
2. Ruth Lorenzo - Always
3. Diana Vickers - Everybody Hurts
4. JLS - You Light Up My Life
5. Eoghan Quigg - We're All In This Together

Live Show 9 First Round:
1. JLS - Umbrella
2. Alexandra Burke - Don't Stop The Music
3. Diana Vickers - Girlfriend
4. Eoghan Quigg - Year 3000 - his best performance imo.

Live Show 9 Second Round:
1. Diana Vickers - White Flag
2. JLS - I'm Already There
3. Alexandra Burke - Un-Break My Heart
4. Eoghan Quigg - Does Your Mother Know

Live Show 10 First Round:
1. Alexandra Burke - Silent Night
2. JLS - Last Christmas
3. Eoghan Quigg - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

Live Show 10 Second Round:
1. Alexandra Burke & Beyonce - Listen
2. JLS & Westlife - Flying Without Wings
3. Eoghan Quigg & Boyzone - Picture Of You

Live Show 10 Third Round:
1. Alexandra Burke - You Are So Beautiful
2. JLS - I'm Already There
3. Eoghan Quigg - We're All In This Together - Why would anyone think that this would be anyone's best performance?! Even for Eoghan?

Live Show 10 Final Round:
1. Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah
2. JLS - Hallelujah

Btw what did you guys think of Rachel Hylton? She seemed to be quite hated by the public despite having a strong voice.

Well done on going through those again Mock.
I did like Ruth in that series myself.
She was likely my favourite of that series overall.

Thanks Joey.

Ruth was winning my little competition until she got eliminated.

Ruth's sing-offs have to be the best performances of the series imo.

Yes Ruth's sing offs were awesome.

It was worth her being in the sing off to hear those performances..
