It was 22 years ago that Madonna’s single Vogue hit the Number One spot.
But it's now back in the news because a record company is trying to sue Madge for copyright infringement.
VMG Salsoul has filed a lawsuit against the queen of pop, claiming she used samples from Salsoul Orchestra's 1977 dance song Chicago Bus Stop (Ooh, I Love It) on her single Vogue.
The company believes Madonna sampled horns and strings from the track without paying to do so, and she has illegally profited off the instrumentals since she released Vogue in 1990, according to TMZ.
Why the delay?
VMG Salsoul even explained why it has taken so long to file a lawsuit.
The record company says that the samples are not immediately obvious, but due to new technology which is able to isolate and identify sounds, they have recently been able to detect the samples.
VMG Salsoul is demanding unspecified damages in the copyright infringement lawsuit.
Madonna, who is currently on a world tour, is heading over to the UK on Tuesday to play a gig in Hyde Park, London.
Wonder if she’ll leave Vogue off the set list – just to be on the safe side…
So what do you think – can you hear similarities in the tracks?
