![]() Coronation Street legend Liz Dawn has been rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack at home. The 73-year-old actress, who played Vera Duckworth in the ITV soap, was taken to casualty with chest pains. Fellow Corrie stars last night rallied round Liz, who quit the show due to the incurable lung disease emphysemia. Sue Nicholls, who plays salon boss Audrey Roberts, said: “She is a real trooper, she will get through this.” Her husband Mark Eden, former Corrie brute Alan Bradley, added: “Liz is a great woman, I’m sure she’ll pull through.” Liz was at home in Manchester with husband Donald when she was taken ill. Donald said last night: “Liz is in hospital. She had a slight heart attack. She is alright.” Friends revealed the actress had been allowed home to recuperate. Liz played battleaxe Vera – wife of long-suffering layabout Jack Duckworth – for 34 years. She married her beloved husband Donald Ibbertson, an electrician, in January 1965. In January, she told the Mirror: “I have only made one plan for 2013. To make sure I am alive this time next year.” Mirror |
