Default Sir Cliff Richard - would it matter if I were gay?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...sexuality.html

Quote:

Sir Cliff Richard has addressed long-running rumours about his sexuality, asking a television interviewer: ‘If I was gay would it make any difference?’

The veteran singer, who has never married, said speculation about his possible homosexuality was painful when he was younger but that it had ceased to concern him
I think some big scandal is about to hit the fan...

He's definitely gay IMO - It's a shame he's never felt secure enough to openly acknowledge it (if I'm right and I'm pretty sure) and also maybe he's been in deep denial even to himself. If he is then I expect life has been very hard for him and I feel for him immensely, I've never particularly liked the man but can't help but admire him now for what he will have been through.

Also he's very talented and even though I've never been fussed on him personally I love his music, all of it.

And my answer to his question is no it wouldn't matter in the slightest, you'd have my utmost admiration in fact.

No I don't on the whole because it's far more 'acceptable' now, and I'd like to think attitudes have relaxed a lot towards homosexuality. Although obviously there's still a lot of prejudice and homophobia, I'm not naive enough to think otherwise, and then there's the aspect for him personally that he's a practicing Christian - he must have been torn apart all these years, which is why I think he's been in denial even to himself. I doubt he's ever actively engaged in any sort of homosexual relationship either. As I said in my previous post I really feel for him and admire him as a result.

Cliff Richard became a star in the nineteen fifties. he's been going for decades, has a massive following and just doesn't get the credit he's due for that. He's not my cup of tea, but I can acknowledge what an amazing career he's had. Pisses me off when people take the mick. And on the gay issue, when he started in the fifties, being gay was an offence. If he is gay, he's denied it for years and it's probably become hard to admit. Of course, he might not be. What business is it of anyone? This one comment he made was probably taken out of context and sensationalised. Leave the man alone. What he does in the privacy of his own bedroom is his own business.

yes leave the man alone!, im not interested in the man!
made a lot of money out of music, don't think he has given a lot back in the way of charity work, or anything else for that matter.

Are you joking?
What business is it of anyone whether he donates to charity or not? Do you?
It's his money to do with as he pleases.

Not a fan personally tbh, but as you say, his careers has been amazing...he seems a sound bloke and I don't really see the need for people to take the piss

As for the question..no it wouldn't matter one bit. Good on him for not giving into the pressure of revealing details of his private life... and if he is gay and just hasnt blabbed it all over the papers for a bit of publicity like it seems the in thing to do at the moment, then even better on him.

Couldn't agree more Livia. Not only that, he isn't some young, pop-star teenager. Revealing his sexuality isn't going to have thousands suddenly love him to buy his music. His fan-base exists, I doubt that many of the younger generation knows who he is.
