Default What is the right age to bring a child into the world?

What is the right age to have a child? I personally think that any age over 16 can have its possitives and negatives. I know that younger parents tend to bond better with their children. My mum had me when she was 19 and now she's 33 years old, and i'm 14. I get on really well with my mum because she is quite young and can still have a laugh whereas if I had a mum that was 50+ then it would be a tad boring because older people tend not to be into the same things as younger people.

I personally am quite selfish when It comes to me and don't really want kids until my mid to late 20's. I want to have my own life first. focus on my career and myself before settling down. some say I am very selfish to think like that, but really If I focus on Career and myself then when I do have a child I wil be at a better financial point in my life because I wil have worked on my career and hopefully have quite a respectable job

What do you all think?

I think 19 can be quite a good age to have a child but it all depends on the situation the mother is in. My sister is friends with a girl who had her son at 19 also and I can honestly say she is a truly awful mother and quite clearly resent her son, probably feel she's missed out on a portion of her youth.

I think as long as your financially stable and your Health is good then there is no reason not to have a child at any age but i do think it's a bit unfair on the child to decide to have one at a late age. I think people rush into having a child when there younger they should get a Job first and prepare for it

well over 16 for a starters but after that its completely down to the individual cos you get some 16 year olds who would make a fab parent but equally some say 21 year olds who wouldnt
i got pregnant at 20 had baby at 21 and even at that age it was a bit tough but for me personally i wouldnt have made a very good mum had i got pregnant at say 16 or 17

IMO Any age as long as you ready and your not over 50, my mum had me when she was in her 40's and shes in her 50's now and is still into the same things i do,i mean how cool is it to have a mum that loves lady Gaga and Britney spears
And i do not think your selfish at all, i don't want a kid until me late 20's because i want to have fun, focus on my career etc.

Between 18 and 35ish, probably mid-late 20's is best

I don't agree with 40-50+ people having babies

A child at 16..are you serious. Don't people want an education? Unless you have an absolute amazing financial situation then surely its not a right enviroment to bring a child into.

Lets use 45 ... by the time the child is 20 the parent will be 65 and approaching a dependent age. A lot of people die around that age, 20 isn't a good age to have to look after parents or have no parents.

When it comes to children and me. It will be about 26+ when ive completed uni and have my education behind me. That way i can be set into a career and have the money to support a child. i hate seeing these young teenage mums on the bus, who obviously have no idea what contraception is.

Any age above 18, so at least then they have had a chance to do education to a higher level, and only focusing on that.

My friends dad was 60 when he had him, and his mum was 40... so she is 55 and he is 75, is that so bad? It's just an opinion, but I think it's fine

I don't think its bad just a bit unfair. At that age his dad might not live to see him turn 18 which would be sad if he didn't, and he will almost definitely be without a dad at a young age

That's true yea (:

Having a son has kept him young though, if you get me. If I saw him, and didn't know her was 75... I would put him at about late 50's Xx

Well I'd probably say 18+ but it all really depends on if the parents are healthy and happy to have children at a young age. I have a friend who is 14 and his father is in his 70's and his mother is in her late 60's so I don't really think anybody can be too old for a pregnancy as long as they are totally stable and know that they can cope with a child at a very young or a very old age.

I think it depends on the mental maturity of the parents, so long as they are over sixteen.

21 and over seems the appropriate age to have a child since you will be more stable financially and also emotionally

I think it completly depends on the individual and whether the mother/parents are completly ready and suitable to raise the child. I don't think the age of the parents should judge the ability to raise a child, though I find it hard to believe that people are having babies at 13 or 60+. It's not a good idea, but it is their choice.
My sister had and still has a hard time from people because she had a baby at 17 and then another at 19 (she's 19 now).. it's ridiculous, she's a great mother.

Personally I want to start to start having children in two years time, after I get married. I'll be 19/20 then I guess.

I waas 25 with my first and 37 with my third! More laid back with number 3 and not so panicky about every little thing that happens! Also more financially secure and believe me that helps!
