Default How Will Intelligent Derek React When..?????

he realises he has been seen repeatedly be-littled by a woman - Saskia, who, he thought he had "sussed" out?

When she got him to bark like a Dog, & he thought it was funny...I couldn't believe it? I was STUNNED that he did it! For a split second I felt sorry for him, - but that was only - half a second really, then I was amazed, a self professed man of politics & intellect didn't - & hasn't yet realised what Saskia achieved - revenge, his response "I've got a sore throat now!!" Saskia smiled smuggly, job done, end of - humiliated! Now E4 are using that little scenario regularily in advert breaks, his humiliation is repeated over & over - What will he think? Will people bark at the eloquent gentleman as he passes them? I think so..... What do you think guys??? I would like to see his face !

:rolleyes :

He will think... it's a game show.

What have the Science fans really got against Derek other than his sly and whispers to other housemates?

So are most of the housemates with the exception of Anthony, Eugene and Science.

But why pick on Derek?

Why is he there? if he doesn't like it, the people are ghastly, he misses his "other madhouse" - the House of commons -errrm - ok he misses his personal trainer - he danced for freedom - threatened to leave at leasr 5 times - He's a fake, & broke in my opinion -He is there on sufference because he needs the money - like Bez on the celeb - but, he had the balls to admit it. He was told by the Hamiltons of a way to earn some money using his brain & all the sterotypes he posseses as "unique! - ŁŁŁŁŁŁŁ He knows where the door is, but use it & he loses it woof! woof! woof!

Like a lot of the housemates his year, Derek has had said in the diary room that he has he wanted to leave the show. How genuine these statements are will never know. They could be just part of his game plan. Personally I don't give much credence to them. He wants to win the show as much as anyone else in the house.

The house is ghastly his year he is spot on about that. I have never seen such a bunch of ego's assembled in one place in my life. I wouldn't like to live in the big brother house this year and that is the first time I have thought that about the show.

He comes from a different world from the rest of the house and moves in different circles. Before he came on the show he didn't have to wash his clothes, cook his meals or clean his house. He is a left over of the class system. I'm not surprised he misses his trainer, his housekeeper and his friends.

Many of the upper classes play at being rich, many have less money in their bank accounts than the average person, Derek might be one of these. Derek could need the money and the publicity and winning the show will bring him. But that can be said of every housemate in the show many of whom haven't admitted they need the money or the fame. But that one thing you don't do in the circles in which Derek moves is admit how little you have.

Derek is a housemate like any other playing the game to win. I could apply some of the augments that has been used on this board for getting Derek and other housemates out of the house and apply them with ease to Science.

As to what he will think of the adverts used on E4.... he will laugh... it's a game show.

Isnt that what Big Brother is all about? Seeing how people from different cultures etc. interact with each other?

I thought Derek reacted very well when Saskia got him to bark like a dog. He knew what she wanted, and he gave it to her. It served both their purposes. I don't like him though. I agree with Red Moon, he is no worse in his behaviour than a lot of housemates, but I don't like many of them either this year!

Yes Yaz, that is what Big Brother is about. I think Derek is the first person in the house that has come from the so called ruling classes.

I'm not surprised that manly of the people that like Science don't like Derek. They are come from completely opposite backgrounds. The world of Kensington is miles away from life in Harehills in Leeds were you are watched 24/7 by security camera's and the lower life of this world in habit the dark alleys selling there wares.

Culturally and Sexually they couldn't be further removed from each other.

This wasn't a thread designed to discuss Science or anyones backgrounds, it was merely a question about Derek wihout malice when it turned into a class divide discussion. Not just fans of Science dislike Derek, all supporters of one housemate logicallly dislike most of the others. - yes everyone is in it for the money, but also unlike Derek, some in the hope of a break in life -like Science - others for ego boosts & possible careers that they lust after to get an easy life. Red moon - Derek is an unusual housemate with purely financial motive, & I agree he has the right to use whatever tactics he cares to, but I disagree that he knew what Saskia wanted - he thought it was a fun game, but that's only my opinion, - I would not like seeing myself portrayed as a cat - really a man - barking at the demands of a woman or Nag as Saskia is represented IF, I moved in Derek's circles after the show is over. Similar to Anthony & the "Gay" tag & teasing he will face from his mates, thanks to Craig. I merely asked how he would react when he learns of this humiliation. If some say he knew what was going on, fair enough - I acknowledge anyone's opinion too, but followed up with that awful copy of Roberto's attempt to win voters over with the hit on Kemal in the Love Loft, - with the Orange scarf headwear AFTER the dates were finished, I believe he thought it was just fun & possibly necessary to stay in the running.
I don't care less if the upper classes have less money than they portray, in a desperate attempt to retain "status" It's what's fundamentaly crap with this country, we are SUPPOSED to be a less classed society, all that pretence is bulls**t, even worse if it's an act used to stay there...for what?? Derek is broke, he admitted as much this morning in a rant about some glass wipes left out the box & dried up, during his cleaning spree - "Quote; These people in here are so stupid, wasting money needlessly AS I USED TO DO!" - oops! That said, he has every right to be in there using whatever tactics to win what he aims for...It was his image I asked a question about afterwards..but as you bring it up so well.........
- you describe Sciences' area - the ghetto, the cctv etc. - so I ask you, who deserves the money, Derek to back up his "status in the upper classes? Craig .. the business empire camp conspirator, Orla - the model career shop window - I could go on, Dereks tactics are tame compared to the vicious psychology Craig plays. Science Anthony & Eugene are themselves - they are doing the BB thing as it is in Sciences' case the ONLY chance of a better life he will get, a way out of the very background you descibe, - there are plenty of Science's out there, & for me, from a working class - full time Civil Servant's point of view - Science & others of his ilke are far more deserving than wannabee snobs with false status - who wants a fake life? I'm not impressed by any of his stories about his supposed high life which he seems to love impressing anyone who will listen-poor Eugene is the recipient most of the time.
That said, back to the original question, I think Derek will be pretty annoyed about that advert - which is Hilarious! although he will brush it off when it's mentioned & will certainly say he knew what he was doing at the time. Trouble is, he stutters a lot when he's lying or thinking up some parts of unconvincing stories, when he loses his way in them, so he won't be convincing, again in my opinion, I am not saying I'm right, or disrespecting anyone's right to their opinion. You raised the question, I merely give my opinion on who & why should get the prize money - & I'm afrai Derek's case is bottom of my list - because of his intentions for it. Science could change his life permanently, for the better - for real, by being real, far better than the money used to flitter away, used as a means to maintain "false status in upper class circles" enough said! I apologise for the rant people but this upper class bulls**t pi**es me off - we all have opinions, characters, hearts & souls no matter what materialistic possesions we have or bank balances.

I am not so sure that Derek is unaware of what he is doing and nor do I think he will be upset or surprised when he sees what he has done in the house. A person like Derek never does anything without thinking it through and weighing up the potential pro's and con's of his actions. He is very calculated in every move he makes and I feel sure that his friends will not be the kind of friends that would think any less of him for the way he has behaved.

Derek is from a different lifestlye to most of us so the way he behaves is all new to us yet it might be that his behaviour would be thought as really funny and quite sweet by people who move within his circle.

I am not sure if anything I have said makes sense but it does in my mind lol

These people sign contracts with the production company. They sign away there rights to how and what is used from the show. Derek would be have been well aware of what he was letting himself in for. If he gets annoyed by the Advert he only has himself to blame for signing the contract. I still maintain he we laugh at the advert when he sees it.

I never disagreed with you about the question of what he did with Saskia. In fact other than to maintain that he will laugh about it on the outside, I have never mentioned the incident in any of the posts.

But I will now. The housemates were having fun. Most had been drinking and people do silly things when they drinking so of which they might regret in the morning. The sensible people accept this and if they make a fool of themselves they laugh it off and move on. People who are over sensitive will feel ashamed of themselves and let it effect they life in some little way for a long time. Derek will laugh it off as a joke and move on. People in years to come might bark at him when he goes down the street.... all that shows is how sad they are as individuals. We as viewers have the same rights as those that the housemates signed away when they joined the show while the length of that contract runs. As soon as the contract is over we have no rights to get involved in the housemates personal lives unless they want us to. They have every right to be left alone just as an actor does on Eastenders when he leaves the set at the end of the day. Of course this will never happen while we have the tabloid press which thinks it has the right to invade the privacy of anyone that has ever appeared on television to make a quick buck.

I don't care if Derek wins or not, I'm not a Derek supporter. None of them really deserve the money this year, but maybe with the exception of Makosi if the story about her mother is true. I'm just feed up with all the housemate x to win stuff and I would like to see a bit more discussion than bitching on the forum.

It look's like I have got my way now.

I didn't describe the area of the Leeds that Science comes from as a ghetto. Science does that himself. I told you what it is like. I live less than 3 miles from the area of Leeds that Science comes from. The people there are the most wonderful people in Leeds. They help give this city it's great warmth and character. The cameras installed there have made such a difference to that part of the city by day. Unfortunately it retains it's image for crime and illegal substances are still available in the area. The EU and the City Council are investing strongly in the area to improve it. Slow this money is reaping rewards for the people in the area. However it will retain it's ghetto image as long as people that live there think of it in that way and promote it as such.

The people living in Sciences part of Leeds are being given opportunities to improve there lives. Money is in place to allow the private and public sector to work together and help bring about the much needed new jobs, businesses, investment, as well as the wider economic regeneration of that part of Leeds. The City has in place schemes to get rid of health and education inequalities in the area. Science doesn't come from a ghetto.

Less than a mile from where I am now is one of the real Leeds ghetto's. Where you don't get a job just because of your post code. Were the streets are no go area's at any time of the day. If you want to buy an illegal substance just ask and someone will point you to the nearest dealer. All Illegal substances are dealt in the open, after all what is there to fear from prison when you live in a prison camp already. The kids that grow up there have no hope unless they move away. Many of them would love to live where Science lives where the streets are safe by day. But they are trapped they because of lack of opportunities and hope.

I didn't set out to start a discussion about class... I was just pointing out the great difference between the two housemates in terms of background. I believe, and you might say naďvely, that different groups of people will support Derek compared to Science.

This isn't a classes less society and won't be so unless we as a people want it to be and decide to elect a Government which believes in that as a key aim. As long as a people we elect the torys of pseudo-torys then things will remain the same. Over the last few years the gap between the rich and the poor has grown and it will continue to grow until we demand a change.

Roll on that day when we can all live in as equals in this country with the same rights to quality education and equal rights for all. But while we have the political system we have now that is not going to happen, and I can't see it happening in my lifetime given the current trends to remove the liberties of the citizens of this country by the introduction of the Big Brother state by the back door.

I think Derek use to be smart but since he started bitching with Makosi and her gang he has really turned nasty. Quite a few others who are nasty in there aswell at times. I think saskia did a brilliant job at making him bark like a dog that was a great thing she did and did on the spot aswell. I think he will laugh it off but inside be regreting it,.

That whole night was rather special GlitterEyes. It was one of the few nights I have spent on here that everyone watching the show enjoyed watching the live feed with out exception. I remember everyone wanted more of the same from Big Brother to inject some fun into the show.

I'm not surprised they used Saskia's clip for advert it was a very funny Big Brother moment.

(off topic) I found your post (the lengthy one) very interesting Coltrane. Although I don't think Derek saying that he used to waste money needlessly is necessarily evidence that he is broke.

Back to the topic in hand, I do agree with Red Moon - I honestly think Derek will laugh at the adverts; that's if he has any reaction at all. He has already done things in the house, which show that he is able to laugh at himself and doesn't mind others laughing at him. It depends on whether he feels humiliated by Saskia getting him to bark like a dog, and of course we don't know how he really feels about it at all. But I don't think the adverts will really bother him. Of course I could be totally wrong!

Red Moon, thanks for the insight & personal info, I totally agree with you about the remote chane of a class-less society, I also know of schemes similar to the ones you mention, to help kids better themselves - I work for one as I live in a similar location as you describe. I find though, that the ones who would really benefit are dissuaded by their peers, to accept help from you or I from a government community scheme would be selling out! I've heard this from one brave lad who stood in the face of such slurs and is now a succesful I.T. programmer, and respected by those who mocked him, oblivious to the pain they put him through to begin with. I agree with the discussion & loved the Love Shack, it was superb in it's simplicity and fun, & took the heat out of a very moody & malicious feeling in the houe at that point following the plasma screen revelation. The choice of partners/dates were perfect - provoking both fun, & a chance to force enemies to the talking table - i.e. Saskia & Derek, hich is where this whole topic was born. Saskia gained revenge, & Derek, maybe intentionally or not made a decision to do it, or was tipsy or whatever, but he will be reminded of it for sure despite his "rights" after the show. we all have rights that are violated on a regular basis, I think he will regret it, he will get teased, but is big enough to laugh it off, even more-so if he should win, god I hope not, perish the thought. but before this gets too political or serious, - he will have a legacy of being the first man to bark for a woman on live TV for life, to add to his catalogue of after dinner speeches or whatever he does - I don't really care, I can't stand the man - whatever their circumstances - he has no right to speak to, or look at Science with hatred & disgust as he has done. Nobody has the right to look down on anyone else - an opinion is like a bum hole - everybody has one & to each their own! Good debate, serious issues raised but as you say until democracy changes & the mentality of the British stiff upper lip exists nothing will improve!
"Another Dog another day" - At least hunting got banned - long live the fox!!! "Woof Woof!"

that was a lengthy thread to read...

however, to respond to the original post...

I reckon Derek might be amused at his barking being used in a commercial. I don't really like him, but I reckon he has a bit of a sense of humour when he wants to. He will turn it to his advantage in his circle of friends by laughing at himself.
