Default Which is the greatest threat to society?

Not sure I can make my mind up on this one.

I don't think it's possible to give a straightfoward response to a question like that. For instance, hatred could fall under war and so on.

I'll go for apathy though. A lot of people don't realize how a controlled, apathetic, vegetable population can be very, very dangerous.

Look to Ireland, my country, for proof of that. Yeah, the government and virtually every state institution fucked us over - but we let them. The day the Lisbon Treaty passed in that illegal refferendum, we should have taken to the streets.

Religious Fundamentalism would be the next that comes to mind.

Doesn't society need apathy from the people so it can work well?

And the fear of some of the others keeps people in line.

Christianity is the foundation for the UK and most of the things you (hopefully) think are worth protecting are undoubtedly built from a Christian worldview.
Islam wants to destroy most of those.

But what are you trying to say here?

Islam is the greatest threat - it is an attavistic, misogynistic, brainwashing cult.

The fundies from both parties are potentially dangerous seen as they want all out war. And the Evangelical American Christian thing seems to be spreading here more rather than CofE

There ARE some issues to be dealt with regarding either of those but neither of them are any threat.

Also its almost disturbing how FEW people chose 'Big Brother/eroding civil rights' which people in the UK ought to be absolutely terrified of already (never mind it getting worse yet.).
I guess Orwell was a prophet after all - people really WILL just eventually accept it.
Truly frightening.

I think all of them come together at some point, they're related. I think there isn't "a greatest" threat to society because not only they belong to different parts of a society (economics....) but you can't treat them at the same time. One at the time. BUT, the biggest issue is to choose which one we should treat first.

I love the way things like a killer virus, gigantic meteorites or natural disasters don't even make the list - just shows you what we think of ourselves now, doesn't it? And yes, I totally agree; we are the biggest threat to ourselves.

A lot of them are unforseen things I guess that we can only sit and guess about. I know a meteorite is due in I think the 2020's, but it's expected not to hit us.

It's meant to go right under the sattelites and stuff though. That's going to be some scary stuff.
