If it ends on the 24th, as I was informed on here yesterday, then it has 4 Calendar weeks still to go.

It's not being stupid, it's called common sense. When is the cut off time where you start 'knocking a day off then'? When we're half way through the day? And why? For what reason?

You are counting how many days AFTER the day you're on.

On Christmas Eve do you still say there's one day left till Christmas Day?
