Actually I was not a happy bunny this morning as they had stuck Helen in a newsroom all on her own watching BB on a small telly that early in the morning.

When they asked her what was happening in the BB house all she coul tell them was that they were all asleep. Poor Helen looked quite lonely with no one to interact with but she still put on a brave smile.

Meanwhile other presenters were interviewing the families and friends of both Alex and Spencer.

As I said before i am not a happy bunny. They wasted her interviewing talent

Yes, but she was very professional, very relaxed, and looked absolutely lovely. Even from her chair in the newsroom she sparkled like a good 'n!

I don't think she was upset about being there, just dissappointed at having nothing but sleeping housemates to comment on.

It was tactical by GMTV, because there was the old outside broadcast from Alex's home (his father has to be the archetypal eccentric! Anyone see the huge painting over the fireplace? Very Southfork!), and there was Spencer's mum, brother and ski shop boss on the sofa. No room at the inn really.

Normally the rels would have been in on Friday, but there's this football match on or something.

Apparently.

Never fear, Helen looked great!

Oh, and by the way,

COME ON LADS!!!

I know cc, it's a shame. No sooner do we get that little football tournament out of the way, than something else crops up.

Maybe Sophie will be on tomorrow with Helen. You never know.

Helen might be manning the pledge phones.

With Paul!

You never know!!

It's looking as though GMTV has given up on reporting updates on BB3. No more Helen appearances. i am gutted.

Even so. After that it will be the end of Helen on our TV screens. A great shame for such a vibrant character to be allowed to fade in to obscurity.

I missed the very beginning but Helen on GMTV this morning appeared as a guest with a BB1 contestant and Adele.

As far as I could make out Helen was introduced as an ex BB2 contestant and was not there in the capacity of the BB3 corespondent as we were led to believe she was.

I think it was nice to see the three of them together on the sofa. Helen still glowed and sparkled in their midst, especially when Darren mentioned the fact that PJ wasn't as good as 'Clarkey'.

HOWEVER

I do think there is an undercurrent to make the previous years contestants disposable now. (With the exception of Brian of course).

Good grief, that woman on BBLB tonight even said Jade should be given a slot on This Morning to talk 'Jadeisms!'

If that sort of attitude is the norm, I think Helen will be cast aside. A pity because she is just being herself, and she always will be.

I hope Helen won't disappear. No matter how negative people are about past BB housemates, you can see everyone who comes in contact with her actually likes Helen.

She IS Warm!

I think she will be OK, whatever!

I think Brian is as disposable as the rest. He started his TV appearances later......If that little number he is doing now on a Saturday.goes!!! then Brian will go the same way as Helen.

It's a shame but there are so many ex uni grads wanting to make a media name for themselves. So working class wannabies will get their noses pushed out. Snobbery will always rule the roost

Sorry to disappoint you bananarama, but Brian's contract with SM:tv live ("little number"??? most popular kids TV show and the CITV flagship!!!) has just been renewed for a further year.... and counting ... He is still in demand for magazine interviews (this week's Smash Hits had to buy it!) and personal/guest appearances and was on MTV tonight presenting an award at the Dancestar awards. I understand that there are also a number of things in the pipeline ... or is that what you meant by "disposable"??!!

Narinder has landed herself a dating gameshow, albeit on a minor sattellite channel, Bubble is still working on Chelsea TV and Josh and Stuart are apparently doing a lot of radio work. ( I always said Stu had the perfect face for radio!)

Although Helen seems to have been shunted aside from her position as a BB pundit, I agree with ROB, it would be a shame to see her disappear from our screens altogether. Although I was never that big a fan, BB3 has made me miss her dreadfully! And how! The powers-that-be in the TV world obviously still think she has a wide appeal, otherwise she would not be asked to appear on GMTV as a pundit, guest presenter, or anything else!

I could be wrong here, but doesnt British TV have a tradition of taking "working class wannabees" to their hearts and turning them into stars? A huge number of TV presenters/actors these days are from working class backgrounds, Carol Vorderman, Cilla Black, Sean Bean, Ioan Gruffydd, Jayne MacDonald (the Cruise, hugely successful album, and a presenting career to follow!) .. too many spring to mind to list!!! Maybe snobbery doesnt rule the roost QUITE as much as you think!!

Hi Ig

I like Brian so I am not disappointed that Brians TV appearances are safe for the foreseable future. I am though quite cynical about the industry because many times I have heard news presenters make comments about BB in general which clearly indicates that some of them believe BB is beneath them to have to report on. Hence my snobbery comment.

My inevitabe conclusion would be that some would not want an ex BB contestant to be more popular than they.

In the days of working class artists like Cilla Black qualification were not in those days as critical as they are today for the industry to accept new wannabies that will be allowed to last longer than a nine days wonder.

Quite simply. If a presenters job were available and there are two people with the right type of personality and capability. One of them had high qualifications and the other did not then I think I know which one would have to bite the dust.

I agree with that part, although wanting to be more popular than a BB contestant does not necessarily mean that they WILL be! The prejudice against BB contestants is the reason Brian's agents have been keen to distance him from BB and they have done an excellent job in managing his career so far. I think the scrum of agents and TV companies wanting to hire him after his win shows that there's no danger of him being passed over for someone with "qualifications"!

I believe that talent is the important thing when it comes to TV presenting, that and getting a foot in the door. As someone who has friends with media qualifications, I can tell you that getting that all-important break is the most difficult thing. Once you have it, experience and ability will carry you through. Brian has the ability, and the excellent way he has adapted to his role as a presenter will ensure he remains in demand and capitalises on his previous fame, as well as his current success.

Helen (the actual subject of this thread - excuse me! can't help waffling when it comes to Brian!) has also proved herself, although in a smaller capacity, and hopefully will have further TV jobs in the future.

At the end of the day public opinion counts for a hell of a lot, and I can't bring myself to be pessimistic about any of last year's housemates ... I liked them all too much to think they'll disappear without trace. Calling them "disposable" is a bit too dismissive for my liking. After all, a few of the BB1 housemates are still doing well! (bafflingly in some cases!)
