Default Teen Banned from US for Barracking Obama.

In an article by Sky News, a teenager has been banned from the US for life for sending an abusive e-mail to Barack Obama. Here is the article:
Damien Pearse, Sky News Online
A British teenager has been banned from America for life for sending Barack Obama an abusive email.

Luke Angel was reprimanded by police on both sides of the Atlantic after firing off a drunken message to the White House calling the president a "p****".

The FBI intercepted the message and contacted police in the UK who went to see the 17-year-old at his home in Silsoe, Bedfordshire.

Luke, a college student, is now on a list of people who are banned from visiting the States.

The teenager told the Bedfordshire On Sunday newspaper that he had sent the email after watching a TV programme about September 11.

When asked about the ban, Luke said: "I don't really care. My parents aren't very happy about it.

"The police who came round took my picture and told me I was banned from America forever."

A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said: "The individual sent an email to the White House full of abusive and threatening language.

"We were informed by the Metropolitan Police and went to see him. He said, 'Oh dear, it was me'."

Officers will take no criminal action.

Joanne Ferreira, of the US Department of Homeland Security, said there are about 60 reasons a person can be barred.

She added: "We are prohibited from discussing specific cases."

What are peoples thoughts on this?

Bit of an overreaction and a waste of funds to pursue it really, they should have just deleted the email like a normal person would have.

Thats not quite right, anyone who is a UK citizen who doesnt have a criminal record is allowed to travel to the states, anyone with certain recorded crimes on record has to apply and be interviewed, simply having a criminal record does not stop you from obtaining a US visa or work permit.

http://london.usembassy.gov/visas.html

Believe it or not members or ex members of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office has to be interviewed.

Back on topic though, he probably made some comment that could be taken as a threat to the Pres. Serves himself right.

Something about this seems far-fetched.

Well we don't know what was said in that email. He could have said that he was going to rape Obama and his entire staff for all we know.

Firstly, he's a juvenile in the eyes of the law - both sides of the Atlantic
Secondly, he doesn't have a criminal record
Thirdly, if he had been a US citizen he could have pleaded the 5th amendment

Once again the Americans say "JUMP" and we say "HOW HIGH?" What a waste of police time and money. Where is the common sense in all of this?
So the punishment is permanent ban from USA! What makes those arrogant tossers think that's a punishment???

Part of this could be that a lot of anti-american Jihadists are from the UK and is an increasing threat.
The number of Brits who wish death to America and hate the 'Jew-S-A' has grown so much over the last few decades that now.. my guess is that any hate-mail from England gets 'special attention'.
Gets taken just a bit more seriously.

I get your point, but I would have thought the trained FBI investigators should be able to spot the drunken ramblings of a harmless nutter to those of a highly trained terrorist. The fact it was an email with a traceable ISP address should have given them an idea that this was not some terrorist mastermind!

Well, believe it or not, the USA is still the largest economy in the world. so if this kid is ever gonna work in the business world, not being able to travel to the USA could mean a lot.

Bottom line: don't threaten a world leader.

Lesson for us all: DON'T GO ONLINE WHEN YUR *****ED UP!!!

it never turns out well.
