They're the modern royal couple in every way " including plans for their future children.

Currently in the British monarchy, it's boys who take precedence when it comes to the throne. But when Prince William and Kate Middleton (who will be a royal in just 10 days!) have their first child, and should she be a girl, she could be Queen.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is exploring the idea of removing "male primogeniture," so the first-born boy in a family would no longer take precedence, even if he has an older sister, the U.K. Mail reports.

"My own personal view is that in this day and age the idea that only a man should ascend to the throne I think would strike most people as a little old fashioned," he said.

"If Prince William and Catherine Middleton were to have a baby daughter as their first child, I think most people would think it is perfectly fair and normal that she would eventually become Queen of our country ... I think it is worth thinking about."

Still, it might be easier said than done: It has also been reported that Prime Minister David Cameron believes that other political issues are more pressing than the future of William and Kate's future daughter.

It's about time the Royal Family had a bit of an update as far as heirs go. However, Nick Clegg wants the reform? LOL... he's struggling, isn't he. I think this is the last thing he should be worrying about.

Their daughter will only be Queen if they have no other children that are boys. If they have a boy after the daughter the boy will be the next heir to the throne.

I think it should be a decision for the Royal Family,not the govt to make.

I also think a Daughter should ascend to the throne if she is older than a Son,it's time to be equal.
