No more Mrs Cole for Cheryl - she's dropping her surname.

Following in the footsteps of some of the world's greatest stars, the singer has decided to be known only as Cheryl on all future material, confirming that she has moved on from serial cheat Ashley Cole.

A source told The Sun: "Cheryl is beginning a new chapter in her life so she doesn't want to be associated with negative stuff from the past."

The source said she would not be removing Cole legally but wants to make a career statement, adding: "She's in a really good place at the moment and wants to take life by the balls.

"She can't wait to start performing live again and her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice."

The former Girls Aloud star insisted on keeping the name following her split from footballer Ashley last year but has now decided to emulate the likes of Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce and Sting with just one name

This starting a new chapter in her life: she's been starting a new chapter every 6 months.

The only thing I like about her is that she is stunning but she's still in some misguided place that she thinks she is more talented than she really is.

but hey: if the money keeps rolling in via ads for hair dyes on hair that isn't hers, for 'designing' for shoe companies with expensive shoes that fall to bits, with mascara ads on lashes that aren't hers - good on her in that respect.

Musically - it's laughable that she / the article appears to infer that 'she' may think she's in league or has anything remotely close to the talent needed to emulate Madonna, Beyonce, Sting etc.

She looks like a skeleton, Maybe that's what people are attracted to nowadays but she's an overrated beauty imo.

I do think she's a highly attractive woman. Not everyone's cup of tea, but in my eyes, as a woman viewing another woman, she's stunning - well, when she's all done up anyway.

I'd agree on the musical ability/ musical career.

But give credit where it's due: she's at least out there making her own money with ads and the Xfactor years etc - I respect her for doing that rather than doing what many other WAGS do, though I don't like the way the ads aren't true to life (but that's the same with most of them I guess) I can't (and won't) take that away from her - and she is stunning.

shame she can't sing or dance well enough to be in a position to come close to emulating real global superstars.

Not a smart move to draw comparison to other one name legends, usually you only do that when you are like... mega. Which, apart from her exposure, she isn't.

But, I suppose 'Cheryl' is better than adding Tweedy. Doesn't have the same ring as Cole.
