Sounds distinctly like the Milgram Experiment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment). Nothing like the classics when it comes to horrible abuse of power, though I'll be amazed if Benedict at least doesn't cotton on to it.

I would have loved to have been an evil scientist, but having heard of the Milgram Experiment is obviously a major disadvantage for that role.
