We can exclusively reveal that Ken's ex-lover Wendy Crozier, played by actress Roberta Kerr, is set to return to Coronation Street.
Ken will encounter Wendy once more when she arrives at Bessie Street School as a potential new governor and they find they are both up for the same role.
Although he is initially shocked by their reunion, the pair hit it off again. However, Ken decides it might be wiser to keep her appearance a secret from Deirdre, even though he is adamant that nothing will happen again between the two of them.
But will Wendy be happy to remain just good friends or would she like to turn back the clock to their affair? And what would Deirdre say if she learnt of Wendy's return and Ken's secretive behaviour?
Wendy previously had an affair with Ken in 1989 and this contributed to his first divorce from Deirdre, although he later regretted leaving his wife and daughter Tracy behind.
Producer Phil Collinson, said: "Ken's affair with Wendy was one of Coronation Street's defining stories during the 80's. Viewers were on the edge of their seats as they watched the disintegration of The Barlows' marriage and over 20 years later I hope they will be again. I'm delighted to welcome Roberta back as Wendy and can assure viewers that her reunion with Ken will be one of many must see storylines this summer'"
