its extraordinary how much better these movies were in the 70s
its not nostalgia its just a fact
whereas brits movies in the 30s 40s were well written the acting was too stiff and woode

but the method kings lead by brando brought movies to another level
the 70s seems to clash the greatest actors, greatest writers and directors and a freedom to make true real to life movies driven by amazing stories and story tellers

the whole show the violence endlessly thing nowadays is mindless, give me a well told story anyday

I kind of think all eras have been good in their own way. Obviously with the technoloigy available in filmmaking nowadays, films are more spectacular than ever but I suppose they lack the charm of the older simpler films.

Imust admit though I do associate a lot of 80s films with my childhood therefore they are a bit more special; the Karate Kid, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Top Gun, Dirty Dancing etc

thinking about it now...id say the 70s is miles ahead with the likes of godfather italion job serpico deer hunter superman alfie, enter the dragon, the odd couple (was that 70s or 60s?)....etc all awesome
but i would say theres been some classics in the 90s like shawshank redemption braveheart, bad lietentant, gladiator....also this past decade , spiderman and batman begins were 2 fantabulous new super hero movies

the 80s was probably a lower point artictisticallly with endless blow them up movies

the stuff in the 40s and 50s with jimmy cagney like angels with dirty faces and casab;lanca are movies so awesome theyll be watched in 1000 yrs if humanity still exists
same with on the waterfront, streetcar named desire, from here to eternity, birdan of alcatraz, etc love all that stuff

70s and 90s frontrunning with a hint of 00s and 60s. But there's no doubt in my mind that the 80s were the most fun of them all.
