Free stuff on the internet is better than Blockbusters.

Yes they cut back stores
so they could carry on.

But it seems the Market Place
has changed so much with Downloads
or lovefilm posting etc.

I don't have to go through all the holes in that argument, do I? Tell me I don't...

It's not the same, having stuff posted or downloading it. I could go in and have a chat with one of the geeky boys in there who knew the kind of film or game I liked and would recommend stuff. Pretty soon everyone can just stay at home at their computer for ever and never interact with another soul.

Once everyone's downloading stuff for free, what's the incentive for people to make music or films?

As sad as it is, this was bound to happen, there is much easier ways of getting films, games and music now (and no, I don't mean illegal downloads), sure, DVDs and CDs are still a thing, but in 2015/2016? I doubt it.

It's very sad, and a shame the way retailers are coping in the current climate. With regards to free downloads though, there are ways of getting content for free, or very cheaply these days. For instance, Sky have an On Demand service, which gives you access to hundreds of movies, and Catch Up services, at no extra cost (depending on what package you have). It's a fact these days, that there are many ways to watch content directly on your TV. I cannot remember the last time I bought (or rented) a DVD, and at one time, I used to buy an awful lot.

It was always going to happen, no way it could compete with Lovefilm and internet services.

Ah shame I remember even in the 90's though all the independant ones were starting to close because of piracy. It just got a load worse with the explosion of the internet.

..I think it's quite sad and especially with HMV closing down as well...I don't like downloading videos/music..I prefer to have actual cds and dvds and I like to go into a shop and spend time looking at them because I don't always know what I want..I find something I haven't watched for ages or an old black and white movie and I buy it on instinct, rather than specifically look for it, like you would on the internet...

The Oxford St branch has so much more than regular stores though (such as a big vinyl section), and it has a huge selection.

On a related topic ie HMV going into receivership, I heard from a friend that HMV were selling Gift vouchers in all their stores up to 24 hrs before their doors closed (probably for the last time). Surely this is blatant theft knowing they were about to go bust and yet still selling gift vouchers knowing that they would never be redeemed.

No wonder people were angry when the news broke, I mean this is scandalous stealing money from people under the guise of "gift Vouchers" whilst all the time the Company knew they were about to pull the plug....

Disgusting.....!!!!!!
