Although the church still has all the wealth hoarded for the next pope who likes bling, but from what I know of the religion, I think this pope seems to be sending a more christian image.

This has most of all do with where Pope Francis came from. The European Catholic Church is still very associated with great wealth and flaunting that wealth. It is different in the South American church, though that's not to say the cardinals don't live well there too

Apparently he's also not living in the Vatican papal apartment, instead opting for something a little less flashy.
