obvious and pathetic attempts to 'win' over the final vote? Two of the basic ways to garner public support are (1) a showmance and (2) the whole boo-hoo I have grown and been on a journey diatribe. He was especially transparent in his safety nom speech and if he isn't talking about his growth/journey he is focusing on his relationship with Charlie. Often he is doing both! Like when he and Charlie were talking about the other being at the top of their phone lists, Dex mentioned his all new phone book now that he is reformed.
Dex is entertaining, but his pathetic attempts to convince us he has changed his whole life around are insulting. And on a final note where are all the Hazel home-wrecker chanters when Dexter is going after Charlie while he has a GF outside? And Charlie leading him on? How is he any different? |

When Dexter came in the house he told everyone about his 'Hall Pass'. Let's face it, Hazel tried on many occasions to get Daley 'erect', you can't compare that behavior to what Dexter is doing in there.

Dexter is playing a game in a GAMESHOW. Shock, horror?
There is no gf. The Charlotte female is just a friend and has a bf (who is not Dexter!) as I understand it Dexter is simply getting the credit due to a good gameplayer: nothing more, nothing less. Last edited by CaudleHalbard; 14-08-2013 at 02:00 AM. |

This is my first time watching BBUK and have watched BBUS where it is understood everyone is playing a game. But from posts in this forum and HM's comments, playing the game in BBUK is frowned upon. Thus, my question was posed as if playing isn't a good trait.

It doesn't but we live in a society that is still quite patriarchal and strong dominant women are still berated as *****s and sluts.
Even a snivelling toad like dexter is given kudos for chasing Charlie though......

Dexter-Charlie is not even a romance, I remember the old days of Saskia & Maxwell where she was j**king him off nightly.

One thing that annoys me about Dexter that seems to go unnoticed is week-in week-out he claims "oh Ill definitely go" with a contrived lack of confidence about him when saying it and its just an obvious ploy to gain fans. I like him, I think hes a good lad and been a great HM and I wouldnt mind if he won but he does like to absolute milk sympathy with the likes of that and with Charlie. "Ive sacraficed something, Ive lost something [his gf] you havnt", sorry but thats your fault and nobody cares.

Summed him up perfect, unfortuantly he has little competition and will do well regardless.

The Twins do that every week aswell which is really annoying. I think Dexter has a reason to worry because he is a love/hate figure for the viewers.

His tactics inside the house are often far too transparent.
He's entertaining and I'd actuallly like him to win if he can. But I'm yet to be convinced he's playing a good game. Sorry but people who shut up shop giving little away as possible don't really deserve to win. |

It is purely and simply a game show now and it is, IMO, a bit delusional to think that it is not being played as a game. |

Dexter is playing a great game, especially when he called out a fear that mostly everyone can relate to 'dying lonely' no other housemate would say something like that.
