Default The Mystery Of The Disappearing Thread!

Firstly, I apologise if this sounds rude, but I'm just curious. Wait, no... I think I'm allowed to be angry for once in awhile. I've always shyed away from arguments, but I'd like to know if it is now common practice on TiBB for threads to simply be deleted, not locked, but deleted without any acknowledgement of this action being taken, or an appropriate reason being given afterwards.

I'm disappointed. If the thread was unsatisfactory to the forum guidlines, or violated any codes or secret rules, the posters could at least have been told of it. But it feels to me that, although I for one am ready to admit that the arguing last night was uncalled for, on my behalf, I'm angry that we didn't get a chance to be told of our behaviour, to rectify it before the thread: "yay it closed 2" was deleted.

Yes, it was a nonsense thread, but members could clearly see that, and comment upon it. And come on, everybody has to let off steam at some point!

I have to admit, it stings a bit, and I'm sure other members will agree it feels insulting to have our contribution (although childish, but joyful and uplifting) so unceremoniously disposed of.

I do apologise for this rant, of which I haven't done many, and don't predict of doing many more. But I'm after some answers, am I, and others, so badly and ill-thought-of by the forum, that they are willing to delete our contributions without second thought?

I'd like some answers please.

I've been thinking this. A lot of threads in the website section have been closed, which havent even had conversation. I also looked at that yay its closed thread, but didnt get it.

"Yay it closed 2" wasn't just a nonsense thread. It turned into people slagging each other off, and went on for quite a long while after you left.

Don't see the point of leaving that up... we've deleted threads like that before. And I didn't delete it till the morning.

About the threads being closed in the Websites section... that's because it seems to be the same VBBs that are being posted over and over. The websites section was originally supposed to be a place to post up (established) websites that people here might be interested in.

However, it's become a place where people are promoting new forums and VBBs and so on. Which is okay I suppose, if they are posted about once (I was thinking about making that a rule), but sometimes people post over and over asking for new members for their forums.

And this site is supposed to be ad-free.

I've just noticed that my Big Brother Virtual thread has been locked (i haven't checked it for a while so don't know how long for) but that's the only topic i've made for it, i made it in March and then posted back in it in July to say about the 2nd series saves starting a new thread about it cause i thought it would be easier but that's been locked so when it comes to series 3, i won't be able to post in it again to let people know as it will fade through the pages meaning i will just have to not advertise it even though i have stuck to the one place or i will have to make a new topic which you don't like happening.

So yeah, why has my one been locked? I can understand about some of the others as it's turned into arguing and more than 1 topic been posted but mine has only been in 1 topic and the only 'chat' in it was 2 of the housemates in the game saying there in it... no arguing, nothing for it to be closed.

Hi Tom!

I'd just like to point out one of the forum rules, which every user agrees to when they sign up to the forum.

I also second what James has said.

Oh poo! I really should read up the regulations before I start my tyrade, eh!?

Its the day after, and am feeling suitably embarrassed... but hey, it felt right at the time!

I apologise, as I wasn't online to see how it got "worse" after I left, but I take you're word for it. It's a shame that the minority can sometimes spoil it for the majority.

The Mods/Admins still do a really brilliant job, it's just a one-off niggle I've had, which I now see it seems you are perfectly entitled to do!

Whoops!

Ouch! ... But then, I wouldn't be able to spout pointless nonsense, and I'd go insane! ... Perhaps it's best I share, but don't be greedy!
