Surely the best way to show they don't discriminate would be to not ask the question at all?

Some are not even allowed to ask for date of birth anymore to stop them being ageist.

It's to do with equal ops monitoring. You don't have to answer it and they are not allowed by law to discriminate because of the answer you give but for equality and diversity a lot of bigger companies will ask that and ethnic origin but have to have a "prefer not to say" option
