'Innocent until proven guilty' is key here. With so many accusations against his name, he should've been trialled in absentia if necessary, so that he could at least be found innocent/guilty and charged if he was found to committed the crimes. But he hasn't been charged and thats a main point to remember.

He was charged with 22 offences.

With all respect due to anyone who has been victims of child sex abuse, clearly this man was 'not' able to stand trial for the 'allegations' against him.

If he was guilty then it is sad he never did face up to the crimes if proven they did, if he really was not guilty then in a crazy backward way justice may have been done.

To be honest, even if he'd lived and stood trial, his brain was turning to mush; he wouldn't of known what was going on, in fact he would probably of mistaken the judge for his long lost grandmother.

Its his relatives and his victims (if indeed his victims were genuine) that I feel sorry for because for them there never will be closure.

No place to hide...

'The “trial of the facts” in relation to the child abuse claims against Greville Janner could still go ahead despite the peer’s death at the weekend, a former director of public prosecutions has said.

Ken Macdonald, who was DPP for five years until 2008, said that while he personally is opposed to the trial continuing, the decision was “quite finely balanced” and that there was a credible case for it to take place.

The Crown Prosecution Service has not yet said how it intends to proceed, but it had been widely assumed that the former Labour peer’s death on Saturday would bring the criminal proceedings to a halt.

Lord Janner was suffering from dementia and it was accepted that he was unfit to stand trial for the alleged sexual abuse of nine boys and men. But, in an unusual move prompted in part by the high level of public interest in the case, there was to be a trial of the facts – a special criminal hearing for suspects unfit to defend themselves in the normal way.'

I'm not going to lose sleep over that. But I agree with DemolitionRed in wishing his (probable) victims received closure and justice.
