Default Is TiBB the place it once was?

In the Snippets thread, nobody picked up on my submission, probably it did not fit into the banter of the e-nuptules going on.

but here we try again

first the snippet again

Seriously - comparing a forum to NASA? And who is this 'senior' member? I'm not interested in hearing the views of people who won't even give their name. Sounds to me as though they considered themselves part of a community, where newcomers aren't welcomed. That's their problem, not anybody elses.

Its unfair to say that its not a friendly place anymore. As a growing forum well will have new members and it is inevitable that some members leave. This might not be due to the forum its just that people change.

I get on with everybody and just like normal day to day living there are bound to be people that disagree with east other. If we all had the same opinions then it would be a pretty boring place.

Totally agree, i find this site as friendly as i did when i first joined people can't agree on everything, and people don't just leave because of the site they might leave because their too busy for example.

I think that I can understand what you are trying to say Sticks but to be honest times change, people move on for whatever reasons and trying to make newer members feel responsible for changes is unfair.

We have a lot more younger members these days which changes the dynamics slightly but that doesnt make it a bad thing. Many members seriously think that all the death announcements are over the top for this type of forum but do not insult you for it, so maybe a little mutual tolerance is what is needed here. At the end of the day in the grande scheme of things does it matter

I have not been a member for that long. A couple of months maybe. But I have found everyone to be friendly 99% of the time. Sticks, you are always quite serious in your posts. Whereas sometimes issues need to be treated seriously, a lot of the posts are just for fun. A forum is for people who have never met before, to discuss topics of their choice, and get to interact with new people, in my view. I have had a lot of fun on here, and shared jokes with many, but also tackled more serious issues. Sometimes things are more laid back than maybe you would like them to be it seems to me. I am not aware of any major row that took place, so I cannot comment. And members throwing personal insults at other members, in a hateful way, is not acceptable. I think if you read everyones posts above, you will see that most people are happy.

What a load of baloney. I'd expect this from someone who uses the expression Alma Mata - Isn't that an American thing. I thought it was Alma Mater, by the way.

I've been on the forum for just a couple of months and have found people to be 99% friendly.

Sticks, I'm getting fed up of this now. All you post about is how TiBB was no longer the place it was, about 4/5 years ago. But things change, that's how time works. I think it's kind of selfish that you do this. You can't join a forum and not expect new members over time. And I'm sure you know that TiBB is a largely advertised forum, and that loads of new members join each day. I'm sure it was a nicer community back then, but things change. IMO you're only acting like this because TiBB now has a lot of young members, unlike years ago when they were older.

There, my rant is over.

ah the amount of chat sites and forums ive seen similar threads to this in is huge, I think this site is great because it covers more than just big brother and has a wide variety of people with differing points of view.
Part of the fun is finding the people who regulary share the same views on things, the other part
of fun is in disagreeing with others.
the thing to remember is even though you might disagree with someone they are entitled to talk as much nonsense as they like, and they are friendly souls when the subject changes.
"forum snobbery" is a ridiculous concept and cliques are just for the narrow minded.

TiBB has always been a great forum IMO, without a doubt members are missed (Hooly especially - great guy) but the forum is still just as good, yes there are alot more younger members but the majority act older so theres no problem.

Why get so OTT about it, I am sure there was no need to write a news article...

If you feel so strongly about it, Sticks, leave. There is a little "log out" button, press it, delete TiBB from your bookmarks and enjoy a better life without needing to get stressed at those 'pesky meddling kids'

I'm a relatively new member and you're isolating people by claiming new members are ruining the reputation of this site. You're pushing away good members that have a good contribution to this site.

Also, who is this "senior member" that seems to believe it's good to talk about issues without confronting them?

Perhaps if you spent less time complaining and more time getting to know the "new generation of posters" you would enjoy your time more at TiBB. It seems at the moment you spend your time looking for errors in other peoples posts, and the way they lead their arguments when maybe you should look at your own.

And people probably didn't reply to you when you first posted it because we come onto a forum for distraction from real life problems, and lets be honest - your posts aren't the most cheery, the last thing we need is to be complained about because we're new.

Sorry, but listing old members ect is making it sound as if you dont want the likes of us new members around.

Things change, if you don't like it, you know where the door is.
I was once a member of another website, it changed a lot, so I just left. There is no point sticking around and moaning. Because I love this forum and all the people on it make it intresting. Old or new!

I don't know what it was like 'back in the day' so I can't compare. But as far as I know, the forum at the moment is not a horrible place.

Exactly. The kind of post that Sticks has made would make any new members feel very unwelcome, and would probably put them off joining. Surely the forum should be welcoming new members?

Sticks, I can't help wondering if you are trying to stir things a bit! You come across as though you consider yourself superior to most other members. I've never been on any forum where there aren't changes, new members joining and old members leaving.

I have to say I agree with the most of the above.. Since I joined different members have come and gone but I dont think the place has turned bad or anything..
I dont spend as much time here as I used to but not because of the changes. Just because I am doing other things..
Actually, I quite enjoy coming on TiBB. If i'm feeling stressed I sometimes come here to take my mind off things and have a laugh.. There are alot worse forums than this..
And I think if TiBB is not to your liking then there are a multitude of other forums that will be..

I do find it odd that this thread is written by someone who started a thread purely because they were going away for a weekend and therefore wouldnt be near a pc......
I seem to remember that thread got a fair amount of pleasent replies even though the subject wasnt exactly "front page news".
why then would you want to insult us all by pompously announcing we are below standard?

Oh he does. King of the kids things he's the most superior on this forum and he has done for a while.

I personally don't think you like seeing people 'having fun' on the forum because your constantly miserable. If your not announcing all these deaths then your complaining. If your not complaining then your insulting people with all this spell checker bull.

I'm going to stop now.

Ive been on here since 2002 and ive seen people come and go. If I think that it was horrible then i would have gone but ive stuck around because there are decent people on here who I am friends with. Its a shame that people have moved on but things change
