What does everyone think of the ammount of money that is involved in football?
I think football has become a business rather then a sport, players who cost teams 20-30 million pounds ain't worth that much not even the best in the world, do you think the big clubs such as Chelsea, Man utd, Liverpool and arsenal should be limited to a certain ammount of money a season to buy players with? so that it gives other clubs a chance. |

A limitation on the amount clubs spend each year might make it more competitive.
It's interesting how they do things in American sports where everything is controlled centrally, and they try to make the teams equal. e.g they have a 'draft' where the best new players go to the worst teams of the previous season. But I don't think that would work over here (the multi-division system complicates it) - or necessarily be better... |

All American sports have a salary cap where by teams are only allowed to spend a certain amount on players salaries. It has advantages and disadvantage. It evens the playing field but it also means that great teams have to be broken up after just a few years. I think a similar system would work in football, but the g-14 clubs would never go for it.

There's already a wage cap in place in some of the lower leagues, there certainly is in the conference but it seems that some manage to get around it for a while e.g. Weymouth and when certain monetary targets are not me they end up having to get rid of a load of players and managers just so that they dont end up going out of business so it might be hard to regulate.
You could even have the contracts saying players are on smaller wages but they end up getting back handers from directors/chairman. |

In the NFL a club gets very heavily fined if they break the salary cap. In football there should be some kind of similar system but the clubs would probably find ways around it.
