This is a serious debate, so no witty asides from the usual suspects please .. (you know who you are!)

Is pornography a bad thing? A lot of groups campaign against it and are deeply offended by it's existence.

My opinion is that if you don't like it, don't look at it, but I don't think it should be abolished/removed/frowned upon either. Many people enjoy it and I don't think they should be judged because of it.

This thread is not about such things as Child Pornography or Abuse so try to keep on topic. It's about garden-variety legal porn.

I love porn. Doesn't make me dysfunctional. I don't force it on anyone else. It's a personal thing that can be enjoyed by someone on their own, or with others who consent to it. I always say, each to their own, as long as it is not harming anyone else.

I don't see why people make such a big deal of it. If porn isn't your thing then no-one is forcing you to view it and you shouldn't trample on other peoples feet by trying to get it banned.

Why are people offended it exists? People have sex, wow. Just because it's filmed professionally doesn't make it any worse. Amateur porn is always going to exist anyway, and people are always going to be willing to pay money/download it - so there's absolutely no point in outlawing it because it will always exist.

I like and use porn. I have used it with a partner who also liked it. my current partner does not like it so i respect that and don't have it about. I see nothing wrong if all are consenting.

Yeah, that's basically how I feel about it. Obviously if someone doesn't enjoy it, then it's not fair to expect them to watch it, and it's the decent thing to respect their wishes.

But, if people want to enjoy it then I don't think other people should be offended. After all, it's not like they are watching it on the front lawn. (at least not round my area!)

My views are that porn is good at certain levels. I reckon my stomach can take more than most people but there is a lot of freely available porn that I find disgusting. Wiki Max Hardcore and take a look at the dangerous side of porn.

THe light hearted glossy wicked pictures type porn is great but never lose sight of the evil underbelly that lies within the industry.

Feel free to look him up, he's an interesting character. Do you know that, according to one of his camera men, 60% of the girls who he 'works' with need some kind of medical attention after he's finished with them. By the way, he's never been convicted of anything because the girl are, initially, consenting. Also, I saw that doumentary where he raped that girl. During that documentary there was a chilling interview with him. He boasted about how the girl just entering the industry haven't got a clue about their right. He basically admitted to exploiting them. All his films are readily available in the right shops if you want to check them out.

I have the same view as everyone else who has posted here really. Sex is sex - it's always going to be there no matter what. In terms of it being in pornography, it suits some peoples' tastes whilst it isn't for others, just like many things in the world.

Also, some people tend to like lots of it whereas others only now and again or occasionally - again, it comes down to what's healthy for them or what suits them personally!

I too think that as long as it isn't harming anyone else, it's fine.

Porn is porn, don't like it then don't watch it. The people that feature in these porn videos are old enough to make their own decisions, so if it's what they want to do nobody should stop them. At the end of the day it's just sex.

Porn stars have to legally prove their age.
The producer of the movie must, by law, have copies of identification of the performers and produce them on demand if the authorities wish to inspect them, the proof of age titles are also logged when producers of the the movie apply for copyright of the title

Eeee I wasn't suggesting I agreed with his films (or had any inclination to viewing them)

I was simply stating that unfortunately until it is made illegal people will always buy that type of porn, which is why Max Hardcore is still making movies.

And I'm not sure what documentary it was, I can barely remember it.
