I agree, and it's a good point to acknowledge.

For the record though, Japan has the same policy against refugees entering their country that the one Trump introduced. The official statement was that they are committed to looking after their own people first. I wonder why people's perception of them isn't tainted in the same way as the USA's?

Japan has major xenophobia issues when it comes to non-white foreigners. I pointed this out on a thread a looong time ago but people weren't very pleased about it . It is a straight up fact, though.

I imagine any deals with Japan would benefit them more than the US so I'm surprised people are happy about this. Japan's economy has been struggling for a long time.

True, but if you ask around here the opinion seems to be that "inclusive youngsters" will inevitably become homogeny-craving cynics as soon as they are older and wider and understand "the real world".

it's the same in south korea, they practically worship white people but any other race, even non-korean asians, usually face a lot of discrimination in the country... although there is an increasing trend for kpop groups to have a random black guy hanging out in music videos for songs that try their hardest to sound american, which, is maybe progress, idk?
