Default should poetry be on the national carriculum ?

poetry in state skool 07.05.17

sunday morning
it was the day of the post
on the bbc i saw self porning
this story i applaud and toast.
i am from the state
no shame in this exposure
twice weekly highgate i infuriate
processing no dignity equals no closure.
through no fault of my own
can not even school blame
rhymes crack like every single bone
compelled to play the poetry game.
i hope this does inspire
i do not have any criticism
for a reader to smile is a perfect desire
poetry should be promoted on the national curriculum.

Yeah it already is... .

However, I'm not a huge poetry fan and much prefer prose, I find most poetry pretentious... so I say... let's take it OUT of schools .

I don't want to be blowing
points not trying to score
do like a bit of Wilfred owen
in Highgate I got my own war.
staying in the fighting book
not a dusty white like sherbet
got to respect mr brooke
love the "solider" by Rupert.
does Macbeth enter
is poetry in the making
the first scene and witches are centre
not understanding most is no faking.
myself I would not lure
because cells are my lack
respect to mr shakur
all will no him as tupac.
would end with a emotion
a nice face and smiley
in the ring he was a pure potion
pen and paper also stings Muhammad ali.
my last one is hellish
it has to be my mayor
graham loose runs Kentish
that's why he is the nightmare.

I think it would be of more value if they chose poetry that would actually stimulate teen interest, something they could identify with rather than poetry in a language that seems unfamiliar and obsolete to many young people.
