What's his like...deal?

I was just sitting around minding my own business when the BB camera cut to Tom sitting on the sofa wearing a pair of totally enormous snooker player's eye-glasses. Then, after a just a second the image vanishes, and the mysterious spectacles are never seen again.

What's he trying to say?
