Default ITV Confirms New XF Judges

Minogue named as X Factor judge

Dannii Minogue and Grease Is The Word judge Brian Friedman will replace Louis Walsh on The X Factor, it has been confirmed. Simon Cowell ditched Walsh from the show in a surprise shake-up earlier this year. The fourth series of the ITV show will have four judges, including Cowell and Sharon Osbourne.

Minogue said: "I can't wait to be part of The X Factor team and getting up close and personal on a daily basis with Simon. But he'd better watch out because when it comes to mentoring the acts the gloves will definitely be off. Just because I'm the new girl I won't be a pushover - he'll soon see my competitive streak. I'm really excited to be working with Brian Friedman. He's hot and all my friends love watching him too. I've always been a huge fan of The X Factor. I can't wait to see what talent the UK has in store."

US Choreographer Friedman has worked with Britney Spears on her hits Toxic and I'm a Slave 4 U, and said: "I'm flattered to be offered such a coveted position. After the warm welcome the UK has already given me, I'm overjoyed to be extending my stay and work on this exciting new endeavour."

ITV Director of Entertainment and Comedy Paul Jackson said: "We're delighted we've managed to secure two new judges who between them have such a wealth of talent and experience. We're sure that they, with Simon and Sharon, and Dermot as host, will prove to be a winning combination and will take The X Factor to a whole new level."

I'm wondering if I'm the only one questioning the addition of Brian Friedman. I've not seen much more than a few minutes of GITW, but I'm at a loss as to what a dancer/choreographer can bring to a show about singing. Is he just there as eye candy (or should that be guy candy)?

Charlotte, I'm the same. I really do not see what a 'choreographer' can bring to a singing contest, although, I guess having the 'X Factor' is about having the complete package, singing, dancing, entertaining etc.

I really like Brian Friedman as a judge, good choice by simon but i don't think Dannii's the greatest choice in the world.

Brian is quite funny, but Dannii seems so boring. I really dont want her as a judge.

I'd prefer Sinitta

Interesting choices and only there to bring in a wider audience and that is all.
