Default Bewarre of theiving ATM machines.

3 weeks ago i went to my local shop to use the cash vending machine in there, i checked my balance....£205 in there.....great, pressed to draw out 200 for my lovely landlord and looked at the money slot eagerly,
10,20,30,40......whir whir whir whir whir whir. WTF? wheres the rest? oh ok its ran out, at least it gave me a reciept for the 40 it paid out, but I'll have to get into town to draw out the rest.

Arrive at the bank, check my balance......minus 35 pounds in credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bear in mind its a savings account and its supposedly impossible to go overdrawn on a savings account.
I go inside my branch of the Abbey National and they helpfully fill out a "atm dispute" form for me and fax it off to machine vendors, that was on the 15th of may, the vendors supposedly had ten days by law to investigate my claim and refund me.......now Im ringing up the vendors daily and they keep promising me someone from head office will ring me back.

Im Livid, basically its my word against a machine. Im not trusting an atm ever again, if i was mugged standing next to an atm id be better off because at least it would be a fair fight.
Be cautious people I'd hate for you to be ripped off like this.

Hi Bonnie, Id rather be robbed by a human than a machine, Its just so frustrating because if someone mugged me proper at least id be able to get the police involved (for what its worth), this way is just a joke.

getting through to the vendors is like getting blood from a stone, they keep promising me someone will ring me back, my bank sent them another copy of the paperwork yesterday to nudge them along (including a receipt). If i knew where they are based id be on the doorstep threatening to put theirwindows through by now.
honest kizwiz dont trust those atm's that are in shops and pubs etc because if anything goes wrong you'll have a ton of stress.

How forceful have you got on the phone...... I would say I am staying on the line until somneone tells me whats going on. Or are they bodied by the FSA or something similar? Even so they must have an ombudsman

Bet if the vendor had over paid you they would soon be knocking on your door asking for their money back.

Good luck getting your money back.

I just mentioned to them im thinking of getting in touch with the police seeing as they havent solved it and refunded me within the ten working days they are legally allowed.
That got me through to a department supervisor who gave me the head office address, so looks like the next phase is by snail mail ffs......

Psy, get down your bank and check asap, if theres a problem ask your bank to fill out an "atm dispute form".

Red, if they overpaid me they would be charging me court costs on top by now.

I need to take a chill pill or something lol.

How awful... I'd do what Kiz said. Surely, it can't be something people'll get away with?

I took 40 quid from a cashpoint the other day and just took my card and left the money.

That's just stupidity in my case.

I used to work in the finacial industry and I am sure that if any company deals with peoples money they have to be under an ombudsman under law.

Or the company should have a compliance department at least

Ok...so they do have a compliance department. So I would send an email to

informationuk@trm.com

stating your case and also informing them of the lack of contact that you have recieved from the company.

hmm that seems to be aimed at the way staff interact, i did find this paragraph aimed towards people who hire the machine though "What should I do if I have a debit to my cash machine account?

As soon as you see the debit on your account, call our Customer Care Center. Please provide the customer service representative with the date the debit hit your account as well as the description and the dollar amount. The representative will research the debit and give you the reason for the debit. Most often the debit is for a chargeback.

What is a chargeback?

A chargeback occurs when a customer files an EFT dispute with the issuer of the card concerning a dispensing error during a transaction performed at your terminal. The processor will notify you of the chargeback and will give you a specific amount of time to respond to that particular item. Should you fail to respond, the debit will stand. However, if the cardholder has filed a dispute and the journal tape at your machine shows that in fact the cardholder did receive funds, the debited amount of money will then be refunded back to your account. "

Im begining to think the shopkeeper is the one trying to shaft me over....

I'll make sure I don't use one of TRM Ltd's machines. I bet they charged you a fee to take the money out the crooks.

They should be locked up. What they are doing is steeling your money.

"Dear Sir/Madam,
3 weeks ago i went to my local shop to use the cash vending machine in there (Londis, Ratcliffe Rd, Loughborough), i checked my balance....£205 in there.....great, pressed to draw out 200 for my lovely landlord and looked at the money slot eagerly,

I go inside my branch of the Abbey National and they helpfully fill out a "ATM dispute" form for me and fax it off to machine vendors (you people), that was on the 15th of may, the vendors (you) supposedly had ten days by law to investigate my claim and refund me.......now I'm ringing up the vendors (you) daily and they (you) keep promising me someone from head office will ring me back.

I'm Livid, basically its my word against a machine. I'm not trusting an ATM ever again, if i was mugged standing next to an ATM id be better off because at least it would be a fair fight and i could involve the police straight away.

I'm obviously at the end of my tether now as £200 is a lot to me even though its peanuts to a multi-national corp like yourselves, i AM CURRENTLY LIVING ON SWEET F.A, so i would appreciate if you would sort out this matter urgently. Suffice to say I am disgusted at the way your company has handled this and will be warning all my friends against using your poxy machines in future.

Yours absolutely peed off,

P.S some compensation would be welcomed for my stress......"

Wonder what they'll make of that rant, lol.
