Default Dreams

What do people think dreams are?
Can you ever remember your dreams?
What do you dream about?

I rarely remember them, but I had a really vivid one a couple of nights ago.

I was incredibly drunk, and was walking around clumsily when all of a sudden I didn't know where I was. I then passed out, and woke up in a doorway, and was walking around some form of university campus - and I reached a train station and discovered I was in York :S [I don't know the significance of this, but York it was ] and found out a friend of mine had played a prank by sending me there. I remember being very angry but then I was woken up by Mum asking me to do the shopping.

Very odd indeed. I wonder if it means anything...particularly as I'm going through the whole University-application thing (although York isn't one of my considerations )

Would be interesting if someone has studied the meaning of dreams.

What do people think dreams are? I think they are nice but Ive heard its may be something to do with releasing thoughts from when we are awake.

Ive found I can decide to remember dreams before I go to bed but otherwise I dont often.

Ones I do remember are usually walking through gardens and woods, swimming and being with friends.

Your dream sounds interesting bugsy2301, could well symbolise the journey your about to take, all the best with it, Uni is fun.

I don't dream at all, and I haven't since about March.. they're all nightmares. They're usually me being killed, attacked or hurt. I wake up and when I go back to sleep they carry on. It's wierd, but I'm used to it and I always renember them afterwords.

Nightmares are the ones we remember because they tend to be more spectacular!

I hate those ones where I think I have woken up but in reality I am still asleep. The dream continues and I'm in what may be a dangerous or frightening situation but I think it is real because I have supposedly woken up. I hate these dreams with a passion.

There was one I used to have which I do not have anymore which is me beng chased. I being followed by a man in a dark cloak. I cannot see his face and do not even know if he has one? I change my clothes to disguise myself but this does not work. I've had it over many years and even while being chased jumped into a opening of a postbox and come out the other end with all of the letters????? Do not ask me how I squeezed through because I don't know!

The other horror I still have is all of my teeth falling out. It is always in public and I try to cover it up but you can't.

Used to dream alot about drowning and running away from water.

Also remember once dreaming I had the plague on my left arm and two veins sticking out I had to chose which one to cut with a scalpel, if I chose right Id become super human if wrong Id die, luckly I chose right and ever since Ive never remembered a nightmare, (strangely that dream didnt scare me at all it was very serene).

Kinda still on topic, anyone else able to control their dreams while dreaming? Dont know if I can do it only when Im coming out of the dream and am awake, (as it tends to be near the end), but I think I can.

Apparently you have loads of dreams each night, but seldom remember any of them. I can sometimes remember mine, and sometimes remember more than one in a night. Nightmares stick in my mind though. I have had a couple of bad ones (one was after watching the film "The Thing"). The horrible type, when you wake up in a hot sweat and are scared of the dark! lol

Once, I dreamt I was being killed. I was walking down a drive way in the countryside and this man with a beerd chucked a boomerang at me and I fell to the floor and then I was dead; dying was like, you know when the signal goes on a tv and there's all black and white spots- that's what I saw

I had a very strange dream once concerning water. Which appeared to predict the immediate future.

I was dreaming that I had a burst water pipe in a little store room and water was flooding out by the gallon.

Now this is the strange thing when I woke and went to the bathroom to wash and turned on the taps and no water came out it was cut off.

Asking neighbours I discoverd that there had been a major pipe burst a short way from where I live and the water had been turned off for repair....

So My dream was about a pipe burst which turned out to be true that same morning.....Weird or not.!!!

I remember quite a few of my dreams. A lot of times though jusr parts rather than the entire dream. Weirdest dream I ever had was when I was a hamster playing football and I bit into the ball and went flying through the stadium. Very weird. Best dreams all involve a certain band

Dreams, to me, are our brain's way of 'digesting' what has been going on in our minds lately; and in some cases, in rather odd and bizarre ways. Sometimes, they're collective or we have a series of dreams in a row, perhaps about a lot of different emotions or feelings we've felt in different ways and scenarios. You are subconscious when you dream, and whilst sleeping - therefore it's basically you having some time to think, except in more interesting and fanciful ways.

Personally, I tend to remember most of my dreams... and all of them are extremely bizarre, rather like fantasy creatures… e.g. dinosaurs, mermaids, wizards/witches… I tend to have other dreams too, but I never seem to have had a remotely normal one.

Sometimes I really do believe they’re true, they’re that vivid, and at other times I don’t. I love the idea of dreams in general.

I used to have this dream frequently. My legs just wouldn't work. lol
Many people have dreams of being chased and they are supposed to signify the need to run away from something we fear.

The problem is that we may not know what the fear is specifically, and so it has been long suggested that the secret is to learn to stop trying to use the legs ,turn and confront the chaser in the dream.

This worked for me and it's been years since having chase dreams.

It is possible to have a say in your dreams to an extent,.I believe I have roughly taught myself to register that it's only a dream so go with the flow and enjoy.
But to others ,Dreaming's a Nightmare !

I sometimes have this awful dream that I wake up but cant move anything at all! I cant call out for help and every part of me is un-moving, its really scary when you think I will get up but cant, I will ask for help, but cant!

I also dream a lot about being shot! anyone work that one out I would be happy! the memories I have of most dreams are falshes, even when I wake up knowing I have had a good dream I couldnt tell the story to anyone as it fades as I open my eyes, just the feeling something nice happens stays with me!

Well apparently being shot is well known too. !
This site seems to have something to say on it. lol

http://en.mimi.hu/dreams/shot.html

basically it's about feeling wounded by someone and other possibilities . etc.

The only strange dream I ever had was about a Californian Earthquake and when I turned on the morning news it had been actually happening. But I still think that possibly one in ten of us will probably have a dream come true just because of probability and coincidence.

The thing is when i'm having a nightmare, i realise it's a nightmare and let them attempt to kill me but i never die and the murderers dissappear or turn into something like a coke can for example. My dreams are very random!

When i was younger though i used to always have a dream where i'm on a busy street and an old man is walking behind me, i turn and realise he is going to grab me but i can't scream and nobody looks around or helps. I attempted to run but i was in slow motion and the man always got me, thankfully i woke up because i don't like penus's.

I've also had dreams come true, one time i had a dream about my auntie crashing her mini, rolled onto her roof and was rather badly hurt, i told my mom the next morning, then on the evening we were told she crashed after her car rolled onto its roof.... i was about 10 at the time! So it spooked me out!
