their natural predators must have been killed off then like birds and snakes. That will be the root of the problem. Bush fires the cause?

…there is an article that says the PETA representative’s comments were misquoted…/..misrepresented….

PETA activist responds to backlash over 'dopey' plague comments….

An animal rights activist who has been heavily criticised for her comments about the ongoing mice plague has responded to the backlash.

When approached by a journalist earlier this week, Aleesha Naxakis, a media officer for PETA, reaffirmed the organisation’s stance that catch and release programs are the best way to deal with such pests.

Her comments, have since drawn sharp responses from numerous people, including Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who said the plea to save the rodents’ lives was “pretty dopey’.

Ms Naxakis told Yahoo News Australia that her comments have been misconstrued in headlines and has spoken out to “make PETA’s stance very clear”.

…silly Correspondent Paul Davies and his team….not qualified to take a larger piece of full interview quote and edit it down to keep context…or maybe it was done on purpose to go for ‘outrage’…sign of the misinformation times…

…what she actually said that the ‘mouse population control’ that would have hopefully prevented this problem from happening and escalating as it has, was asked since similar happened last year …looking at possible prevention is always the best…(…and most humane…)…way….the PETA lady is most wise…she realises that they’ll now have to use less humane methods ….

I haven’t read through the story but I wonder if the tens of thousands of snakes killed in the forest fires are a small part of this mouse plague ??

This happens every so many years in Australia ~ vile but it'll pass always does. The little gits all come up out of the ground and munch everything in sight . I'd be going insane with so many thousands of them belting about.
