I think it's like a big dysfunctional family.

But I love it here, I really do. This place really helps me to feel that I'm not alone and there are people who care.

Me too Ness. Some people on here have been very good to me and I'm invested in them being happy too. I'd always be here for anyone who needed me.

Me too actually to this Kazanne.

I really only joined in 2010 for the then BB series.
You myself and Mock were Ben Duncan supporters then.

Then I just stayed despite some moaning from me and irritating times.
I've never really liked the look or format of other forums.

Obviously there's issues which create clashes at times and the typed/written word cannot really express the tone of strong disagreements.
You and I for instance.
Would argue, kind of, on politics.oops.
However there's no other issue I've come across where we really disagree strongly.

There are people on here I have said one day I'd like to meet and some who aren't on now I'd like to.
There's been members I've felt close to and now found that's not so.
Others I've not been so sure of but now like a lot.
Still on and some who've left.

I love hearing other people's opinions on issues and what their thinking is.
My mind's been changed on my own thoughts by others on here on issues.

I do feel there are many on here I'd miss if not knowing how they were and hearing their views too.
So yes, I'd say you can get attached in a different way obviously on here with other members.

So my short answer is yes to the thread question and also yes to I agree with you as to what you've said.
I've just done my as usual long, too long posting again to answer those 2 points

And I think a difference between the virtual and offline/flesh-to-flesh world is that you can choose who you want to interact with online whereas in person you’re often lumped in with people you don’t like (whether it’s just a passive “s/he’s not my cup of tea” caution or “I absolutely hate this person”) or don’t have that much in common with but are just forced to socialise for logistical reasons. On some level I give online friends the same amount of respect as I’d like to think I give my offline friends who I’ve chosen to have that kind of relationship with over the years. But no-one (whether they’re blatantly extraverted or more reserved) likes socialising with people who annoy and irritate the life out of them low-key so sometimes the Internet is an escape. It’s also a thing (which a lot of talkative people don’t seem to understand) that people who are more reserved and circumspect with their speech in the flesh (unless alcohol or stimulants are involved) tend to be a lot more expressive and open about the truer depths of their thoughts and feelings in a way that’s difficult to communicate in person unless the conversation gets really deep and you’re chatting for hours to your bestie at 2 a.m. on a Saturday morning. I think all of us have been in the latter position but generally conversation often flows better online.
