Our Former Bank Of England Governor.
Like Trump Not a Politician, a former Businessman. He has already stated Trump will never take our nation. ![]() https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap...er-Canada.html [Carney has Canadian, U.K. and Irish citizenship. He has moved to eventually have solely Canadian citizenship, which is not required by law but seen as politically wise. His wife Diana is British-born and he has four daughters. His chances of remaining prime minister for more than a few weeks seem to be improving. In a mid-January poll by Nanos, the Liberals trailed the opposition Conservatives and their leader Pierre Poilievre 47% to 20%. This week the latest poll has Liberals at 34% and the Conservatives at 37%.] Last edited by arista; 10-03-2025 at 02:03 AM. |

[Mark Carney sworn in as first new Canadian
prime minister in nine years] [Mark Carney, an economist and political newcomer, has been sworn in as Canada's new prime minister and delivered a speech vowing to "never" become a part of the United States. He takes office on Friday just days after being elected leader of the governing Liberal Party and amid an ongoing trade war with US President Donald Trump. "We know that by building together, we can give ourselves far more than anyone else can take away," he said remarks after the ceremony. Carney replaces outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was in office for nine years, after a landslide victory in last week's Liberal leadership race. "We will never, in any shape or form, be part of the US," Carney said told reporters in Ottawa on Friday, referring to Trump's musings that Canada join the US as its "51st state". "We are very fundamentally a different country," he said, later adding the notion is "crazy". He declined to answer questions about the timing of Canada's next federal election - currently scheduled for October - but hinted he would move quickly to seek "as strong a mandate that is needed for the time".] ![]() https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgm1lg3gj7vo https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ng-office.html Last edited by arista; 15-03-2025 at 12:31 AM. |
