Simon Cowell to quit 'Idol' in 3 years

Friday, August 17 2007, 10:26 BST

By Kimberley Dadds
Simon Cowell has announced that he will be quitting American Idol after three more seasons.

The music mogul, who has appeared in seven seasons of the show, admitted that he can't imagine being involved with Idol after it hits its tenth year, according to Yahoo music.

Cowell revealed: "There has to come a point when I will step down from being on camera and remain behind the scenes because you can't keep doing this for ever.

"I have three more seasons under contract with American Idol and that will be it. And it will probably come at the same time (for talent show The X Factor) in the U.K.

"I am contracted for another two or three seasons in Britain and I think by that point the public will be sick to death of me anyway and it will be time to go."
I'm guessing it will end when he quits as he makes these shows good. You must admit, you love to hate him lol.

I think that we have to look at this article in the same way as we looked at the story about Louis Walsh when he was'nt going to be in this series of the X-Factor, but low & behold, he is there for this series. I really hope that those reality shows continue and Simon Cowell makes me laugh, if nothing else?

Big Brother's latest contract runs out at the same time, so if cowell's leaving means no more X-Factor, I'll have no reason to watch TV any more other than I'm a celeb .

I hope they continue to, as I've said thought, there won't be any point in them continuing if he leaves. He makes those shows good.

You are dead-right bigbrotherin, Simon makes the show. I hope that story turns out to be untrue when that time comes, but in the meantime, Simon,Louis,Sharon & Dannii are going to give us a great show. Oh...I won't forget the auditionees of course. This year the starting age is 14 I think?? Maybe a young girl/boy will win? But what about taking the time of from school? That's a strange one?

I am sure that things won't come to that freddy. I am hoping that if the contracts run out for Big Brother, then a new one will be taken out and the show goes on. If so many other countries have the show, then we should continue too
