From (dare I say it) The Daily Star.
SIZZLING sisters Sam and Amanda Marchant are at the centre of a sensational £5million betting stampede. Fans of the bubbly twins have poured a haul of cash on the duo during a frantic night of gambling in a desperate bid to make sure they are crowned the winners of Big Brother. The show was looking at its first ever dead heat with Essex boy Brian Belo, 20, proving a strong contender for the 19-year-old sisters. We revealed yesterday that experts had admitted there was almost nothing between them and the race to the finish line would prove to be a photo finish. But in a mammoth over night betting session fans of the girls, who come from Newcastle-under-Lyme, stacked thousands more on them to win. And now they are the most popular Big Brother housemates in the history of the show, according to bookmakers Ladbrokes. The stunning girls have attracted over £5 million- worth of bets industry-wide, beating the previous best of £4.75 million struck to last year’s winner Pete Bennett, 25. And if they the win the top £100,000 prize punters across the country will clean up at the bookies. Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: “The Twins will go down in BB history. “They’ve managed to steer clear of all the bitching and back stabbing which has made them firm favourites amongst punters. “If they’re crowned queens of BB their army of fans will only increase. “The only people they won’t be popular with is the bookies. “We stand to take a hammering if they pocket the £100,000 winner’s cheque.” The girls are the red-hot 1-6 favourites to win the show with Brian giving them a run for their money withs odds of 7-2. It means the show’s finale tomorrow night is building up to be a blockbuster as millions are expected to tune in to watch the nail-biting finish between the twins and Brian. Insiders reckon it could be one of the best finales ever as there is no clear cut winner like last year when Tourette’s sufferer Pete was the hot favourite to win from the very beginning. A show source said: “Although we have known that it is between the girls and Brian for some time now no one knows exactly which way it’s going to fall. “That’s the most exciting part. Everyone is convinced that the twins will win but Brian has a huge fan base too and the crown could easily go his way. “It’s going to be a dramatic finish to a good series.” Meanwhile punters are placing bets on what the wannabes will get up to when they have left the famous spy house. Unemployed political protester Carole Vincent, 53, is 66-1 to become a Respect MP in her London constituency at the next General Election. And former boyband member Ziggy Lichman, 26, is 10-1 to release a single and have a number one before the end of the year, while fellow heartthrob Liam McGough, 23, is 2-1 to appear in a Lynx advert. Nick Weinberg added: “All the housemates will try to cash in on their 15 minutes of fame…But with varying degrees of success.” Article |
