Emmerdale's Nick Miles has attacked TV awards shows for being biased towards rival ITV soap Coronation Street.
Speaking about the Yorkshire-based soap's lack of recognition at the recent TV Quick/TV Choice awards, Miles suggested there may be an element of favouritism towards Corrie. The 45-year-old - who has played the character of Jimmy King since 2004 - told The Sun: "After a while, you think that Corrie would even win the gong for best Dingle. "I was very surprised that Joseph Gilgun, who plays Eli Dingle, didn’t get the Best Newcomer award." He continued: “Emmerdale’s ‘Who killed Tom King?’ storyline was ground-breaking because of the interactive element we had with viewers. We should have won something but those who run these awards seem to like Corrie." The actor's 30-year-old co-star Lucy Partgeter, who plays Chas Dingle in the Yorkshire soap, added that she believes the show's popularity means it should get more chances to go head-to-head against EastEnders. She said: "We don’t seem to get the recognition we deserve but every time we go up against EastEnders we beat them." She added: "It would be nice to see if Corrie could do as well as us against EastEnders. Maybe we could change slots for a while." ----------------------------- I like Emmerdale, but Tom King wasnt the best storyline it was long and drawn out, and at the mo, Emmerdale seems a bit drab, hopefully the fire will perk it up |
