My Mate told me that Rihannas NO.1 single 'Umbrella' was originally meant for Britney is this true??

If it is i wonder why she turned it down? maybe beacause at the time she was going thorough the bitter fight with Kevin i can imagine Britney singing Umbrella and when you think about maybe she would of had the 10weeks at the top

Mary J Blige reveals new album details

Mary J. Blige has announced details of her new album.

The R&B heavyweight will release 'Growing Pains', her eighth studio collection, on November 26 through Geffen. It will be followed soon after by a single, 'Just Fine', on December 3.

The track was produced by Jazze Pha and 'Tricky' Stewart - the man behind Rihanna's summer smash 'Umbrella'. And the outspoken singer recently claimed that the song had been written for her.

"They did the song for me," she told MTV. "And it was during the Grammy time and I was really, really busy, and I heard it, and I was like, 'Oh my goodness, that's a smash. I love this song.' And it was like 'It's yours'. So in the midst of it being mine, they were probably telling (Rihanna) it was hers."

But Blige is apparently "just fine" with the way things worked out.

She added: "I was so glad that she caught it and knocked it out of the park, and it's still one of my favourite songs to date."

yeah i heard that 2 but it was offered to Britney aswell...i think ig Mary J sang it it wouldnt of been a hit.... she isnt that good imo... however Britney maybe could of got to NO.1

she isnt though...she has a great voice and her last album i really didnt like..... yeah Rihanna is sexy but britney is too

Id have preferred Mary J to have got it, at least she could probably do a decent job of it when singing it live. Rihanna is woeful when she performs Umbrella live, or nearly anything live for that matter.

If it's true, then she's extremely stupid.
I think she's pretty stupid at the moment anyway. Sure, her new album ain't awful but it can't be great for her mental health.

knowone can perform live as bad as Rihanna she just walks around stage and dosent sing loud enough.

Rihanna is OK but she CAN NOT sing live i saw her on Live Erath she was Awfull the just mimes and sings over it but VERY Low evenn though Britney cant sing live Which imo she CAN Britney would of made Umbrella work just like Rihanna
