Default The Irish Xmas number one is.....

Leon! Leon's debut single has topped the Irish chart, despite not much air-play on Irish radio. Many Dublin stations were campaigning to get The Pogues number 1 for Xmas, but they only managed to snatch 3rd.

Leon, Leona & Shayne are all in the Top 5.

1. Leon Jackson "When You Believe"
2. Leona Lewis "Bleeding Love"
3. The Pogues "Fairytale Of New York"
4. Shayne Ward "Breathless"
5. Timberland ft. One Republic "Apologize"
6. Brendan Grace "The Safe Cross Code"
7. Westlife "Home"
8. Cascada "What Hurt's The Most"
9. Soulja Boy Tell Em' "Crank That"
10. Mariah Carey "All I Want For Christmas"

Just goes to show how powerful the X Factor is.

I was looking on iTunes a couple of hours ago for Rhydian's single. It was in the album chart for some reason like Leon's and it was number 47 yesterday, while Leon's single was at number 1, and now it's not even in the the top 100. Maybe I missed it but it has fallen a lot in the last 24 hours if I haven't.

All I've heard is people bashing it on the radio saying they dont like it - but I think they were just Rhydian or Pogues' fans. I havent heard a good word been said about in Irish radio, or heard it once on the radio. I'm glad he has done it and got the number one, he desserves it. I hope it's the first of many.

There seems to be a lot of that going on in the mainland too. The radio people seem to have it in for him just because he was on the X Factor and they always get the Christmas number one. It's not his fault the show ends near Christmas. They should be having blaming the TV company and the producers for the timing.

Well done Leon! And he's guaranteed #1 in the UK too, I'm glad for him because he doesn't deserve all the backlash he is getting so at least he knows that people are supporting him too.

We have the radio on all day in the common room and I've heard it played quite a bit!

Happy it got Number 1!
