Default Should bands be allowed?

Do you think that bands with instruments should be allowed to audition?

I know it is predominately a pop orientated show but I think having bands would make the live shows more interesting. The X-Factor could find the next U2 or the Arctic Monkeys and it would increase the chances of the Groups Category winning. Bands are more commercial in recent years with some of the biggest selling albums of the decade being released by bands such as Coldplay, The Killers, Snow Patrol, The Scissor Sisters, Keane and McFly.

The public could have more choice and it might stop the boring Shayne Ward types winning. It could also make the show more credible and relevant to today's music industry.

They had the MacDonald brothers, who were rubbish, but I agree they should encourage all genres to audition - though it is a pop contest, so I think it really depends on the type of music the group plays.

No its not.
Not everyone there sang pop.
Ray - Swing/Jazz/Blues.
Ben - Rock.
Leona - Ballad.
Tabby - Rock.
Rhydian - Opera.
Kimberley - Country.

They all specialize in certain genre, like every singer does.

I think bands should be allowed.
Then we'd see proper music, proper talent, and it'd definately be interesting to see vocal groups against bands.

It would be good to see some acts that played their own instruments.I think we'd end up getting better performances as they would have songs better suited to the acts.
