No I haven't heard this. But I have heard they had to rebuilt the whole studio so they could start filming in HD from April onwards.

Yes because in HD the set they use looks fake (because the walls are cardboard atm). Its cheaper in Wales to produce with cost cuts.

EastEnders in Welsh move?
![]() EastEnders could be moving to Wales. The soap's current set - the fictional East London borough of Walford set in Ealing studios - apparently looks too old and shabby on high-definition TV and, according to the Daily Star, BBC bosses believe filming in Wales could be a cheap alternative to building a new set. A source said: "Everyone is buzzing with rumours of the move. "Viewers can see every chip and flake in the set. It's also obvious the set isn't even built with real bricks. Costs are much lower in Wales than in London, so it certainly makes sense. "There will be some great in-jokes for the viewers, with people growing daffodils and leeks in their gardens." And insiders claim Welsh celebrities Catherine Zeta-Jones, 38, and Charlotte Church, 22 tomorrow, who are both fans of the show, may make cameo appearances to celebrate the move. The source added: "Producers are already in talks about which big name Welsh stars they should go after. Charlotte would be ideal, as she could play a really bolshie babe on the market. "Catherine would also bring a certain something. She's said to already be a fan of EastEnders and she owes her big break to British TV." BBC sci-fi dramas Doctor Who and Torchwood are already filmed in Wales. EastEnders bosses are also considering studios in Belfast, Bristol and Pinewood in Buckinghamshire for the new set. A BBC spokesman said: Any move will be confirmed in the next few months." This is north Scotland |

Aye I thought Richard Arnold off GMTV said it was moving to Pinewood (which is closer and probably better)

I saw this on MSN news and I'm starting to believe it, just I don't think its gonna be a good move for EE. Its always been about East London. Also alot of the stars have families, therefore they woud be leaving instead of moving for a show, coz lets face it, its not the best show ever.

There's nothing wrong with Wales..
it should move here, not just because I'm Welsh. We have alot of countryside which they could use and maybe have a Welsh speaking family move to the street (who also speak English) and get Welsh back on the map. Diolch yn fawr! |
