Default My opinions on things

After Conor's {{critically acclaimed and controversial}} opinions thread, I thought I would do one to get my opinions out in the air and so y'all can get to know me a little better. I am 14 years old by the way.

Britney Spears:
Absolutely love her. I love her as an actress, an artist or as a person. She is a genuinely nice and happy as a person which is obvious if you ever watched her TV show Chaotic. But Britney gets sad when she is clamped on by the tabloids and thust into the media limelight. I admit, Britney did seek the attention, but I still don't think some people realise she is suffering from bipolar disorder, a mental disorder which can never be cured, but is preventable.

Anorexia:
I totally understand why celebrities go into a state of anorexia and do not understand why they are criticised for it. I am hugely body concious, yes I am not proud of it, but it is something that I cannot help and I could spend forever pointing out the errors of my body. I have lost a lot of weight over the past year and I am around happy with it, but if I ever went through dramatic weight gain, I'd be more than happy to go to drastic measures to get rid of it.

Homophobia
Homophobia is just ignorance, but I do suppose it is how you are brought up. I myself am gay, and I do often find it offensive when people poke their nose in, asking you about your sexuality. But if you ever do drop any hints about it, they go on an insult rampage, which is disgusting. People should have the right to feel comfortable about their sexuality without being criticised.

World War 3
I have no idea about the war in Iraq or why terrorist attacks keep happening. But all I keep imaging is World War 3 happening again. I have no idea why or have no idea about how close World War 3 is coming to us, but I am literally petrified at the thought. Nuclear bombs are so scary.

Right, that's my current opinions on things.

You're making it sound like it's normal and theres nothing too bad about it. Its "okay" cos theyre body conscious?

It can make women infertile, and can even kill people. It ruins their lives. All because they want to be thinner than they already are.

You say you're body conscious, and you'd be happy to conduct drastic measures to lose a lot of weight, well theres this thing called exercise. It's healthy, and doesn't ruin peoples lives and destroy their body.

I know you're not supporting anorexia, so maybe I have come across as a bit harsh - but from your post you're certainly condoning people with anorexia.

Its not just a case of being sick after meals or not eating at all. Your bones become brittle, for women - their periods stop and they can get infections, your stomach lining begins to tear away because of the acidity, and it can cause infection and death. The reason celebrities are criticised is because youngsters don't see this side of things. They just see a thin celeb.

I think that these magazines are half to blame with people becoming anorexic. Many celebs are often shown in mags and if they have the slightest bit of fat on them they are critizised. These magazines pick up on the tiniest of things!! It annoys me because people can never be the right weight in their eyes. They are either too fat or too skinny. Nicole Richie for example was always in magazines for being 'too big' and as soon as she lost weight she was then told she was 'too skinny'. Also if they see a bit of cellulite they'll put that in the mags too. Who honestly cares if celebs have a bit of fat on them now and again?, its called being healthy! Gosh.. we cant all be perfect! And not only does that make the celebs feel self concious ..but it also makes normal everyday people think that they are overweight too!! Forcing them to want to loose weight and possibly becoming anorexic x

Oh and another things that annoys me is Pro-Ana. Theres loads of Pro-Ana videos on youtube which glamorises anorexia! Why do that?! The people behind the vids are trying to encourage people that becoming skinny is 'beautiful' and 'sexy' etc.. And when anyone trys to give words of advice in a kind way they all become really agressive and start being really rude. Look how disturbing the thinsperation video is

You'll never see a "big" celebrity on the cover of a popular magazine. Even if the celebrity is fairly skinny, but has a bit of fat it'll get air-brushed out - so people who read the magazines don't realise they're just exactly the same. Everyone has something they don't like about their body.

I fully agree with all of your points. And like Mark says - most of them are airbrushed anyway to make them look perfect.

It's sad when beautiful just isn't good enough, and they need to look airbrushed and plastic too.

Thanks, and instead of putting a normal sized person on a catwalk or a magazine they put a super skinny person or someone whos been airbrushed like Markus said. What kind of image does that show to young people? Thats why i think the dove addy is good because they show a range of all sizes x

Anorexia is to do with the individual, no one else!

Yes its to do with the individual but people can be influenced by others. People see skinny celebs/people and may want to look like them, and sometimes they feel that the only way to do that is to stop eating etc... x

People should just stop blaming the media for all their problems. At the end of the day anyone should know that that the model image is unrealistic and a near unreachable standard. If you chose you buy into the size zero myth then it is your own fault plenty of people are unaffected by it.
