Default The new Big Brother house.

I saw pictures of the new Big Brother house yesterday and I had to say something about it. I think it's one of the best looking environments they've built for a long time and should be a really good setting for this series.

I remember in the past there would be a press release explaining the themes for the shows and you'd get a bit of bumpf about how the house designed to make the housemates feel claustrophobic or angry or something like that to help initiate arguments and strange behaviour but I don't think it's ever really benefitted the show. Atleast not for the past few years. I haven't watched all that much since my favourite Big Brother show (B.B.5) because there seems to be too much emphasis on creating a bad atmosphere and getting the contestants at each others throats from the get go without letting anything play out over a bit of time. I hope this new house is a sign that Big Brother will be a bit classier this year, and not so much trash TV like it's been for awhile.

Of the new house I think the kitchen's my favourite area, shortly followed by the pool outside. It looks nice enough to spend time there anyway, I don't think I could have said the same for many other B.B. houses. The bathroom is rather extravagant, maybe a little over the top for my taste but I suppose that adds a touch of something, I wouldn't go as far as to call it garish. Also the lounge looks very comfortable which is nice for them, I seem to remember one series there were some pieces of furniture deliberately chosen because they were uncomfortable, again to cause arguments I think, but I thought well I just wouldn't sit on them! I hope the makers of the show have learnt some lessons. Oh and the bedroom looks strange doesn't it? I'm assuming the housemates will be adults but I thought it looks like something from a PGL camp when I saw it. I'm not sure how that's going to work, but the rest is really great.

I think the house is disgusting! I know for a fact it will never grow on me. The textures and sparkling colours on the walls for a start... just NO. The there are all the stupid angular or bubble frames around everything. The jagged walls would look good, but they've been clad in velvet and laminate. All the colours in the garden clash and make it look horrible, when the space could have effectively looked very nice. There are no WOW factors, just lots of nauseating textures, patterns, colours and shapes.

The kitchen looks strange and I don't like the colours. The worktops go back way to far and generally it looks a mess and shoved in.

There was obviously some designers block in the bedroom. Bung a few lockers here and some cactuses there and stuff in a few Ikea beds. The bathroom, although just finished looks like its been there for years. It's extremely dated, and doesn't look anything like an RnB stars bathroom (You'll know if you watch Cribz lol)

Finally the sofa's in the living room. What was the designer thinking! He's made such a mess of this house!

Yes... of course, I'm going to sacrifice watching a TV show for the sake of not liking the set...

When you've been on this forum for more than a month you'll realise that most smiley faces posted are used for cheeky sarcasm. My mistake.

I agree completely, the house is nauseating. When compared to my favourite house, BB6, it's completely the opposite. BB6 was clean, modern and fresh.

The main living area is too similar to BB:CH (I say this rather than BB8 because of the wooden floor it had). The different textures, patterns and colours is too much for the eyes and makes it look messy. The only thing I like is the garden, but even that is ruined by the awful red and orange clashing against the green.

Very disappointing house, which is a shame because I really like the eye and most of the graphics so far.

it might seem to blend in together when you see it from the Camera's angle and when davina does her tour... only time will tell...

tbh at least its not too plain like last year, and not too many soft colours... alot of pastel colours goin on last year... i like it bright and striking!

I agree, looks really good - the set does impact the housemates...

I think we would of all had more fun if there was a pool - the hot tub was TINY!

i feel that the bedroom is the worst place in the house, with the most uncomfortable furniture. the garden probably has a few too many doors (although they could be used for a task room, toilet, fire exit, diary room and secret room) for my liking. the colours are nicely mixed throughout the house and garden. i absolutely love the pool in the middle but the bathroom is a little over the top. the living area and kitchen are my favourite rooms in the house. it is still a mystery as to where the entrance is going to be. if you look closely at the picture of the dining room table, behind it there is a door, (presumably the diary room) so where would the entrance be, maybe through one of the many garden doors?

I think this is the best house so far. The living area in my opinion, looks much better that previous years, and the kitchen looks cool. The garden's my favourite part.

Yay! Other people hate it!
The Kitchen looks liken it is going to fall over any second! It all looks so tatty, whereas houses like bb5/6 had a more 'solid' feel if that makes any sense what so ever!
