Big Brother has reached its ninth series now, and with Dermot O'Leary jumping ship from Big Brother's Little Brother - heralding the arrival of two of the worst presenters in TV history in George Lamb and Zezi Ifore - the future did not look bright for a reality show that has shaped British viewing in the noughties.
While Channel 4 producers might have hoped for a relatively quiet series after the race row that dogged the last Celebrity Big Brother, the instability of a contestant like Alexandra De Gale must have been clear as early as the interview stage. But rows mean ratings and with the tension in this year's house building to the point where Alexandra was expelled for threatening behaviour, the ninth series of events from the Big Brother have made the news against all odds.
Far less controversial but equally as appetising to the media was the relationship that played out in front of our very eyes on Big Brother 8 between Chanelle Hayes and Ziggy Lichman. However, the course of true love never did run smooth, especially in the Big Brother house, and while the couple lived together shortly after leaving the house, a very public slanging match soon kicked off.
Since then, however, Ziggy's done a fairly impressive job of handling the aftermath of the affair - compared to Chanelle's disastrous attempt at a pop career - and as someone who's survived a Big Brother romance, he's the ideal person to talk you through which couples are likely to hook up in the house this year and how he coped with returning to reality after the BB whirlwind.
inthenews.co.uk's Lewis Bazley spoke to Ziggy about Big Brother relationships, who he fancies in this year's house and whether he could have coped with Alexandra.
