Doctor Who big winner at TV awards 15 hours ago Doctor Who and EastEnders were the big winners at a TV awards ceremony. David Tennant, 37, won Best Actor for the second consecutive year for his role as the Time Lord. And Catherine Tate, 40, picked up Best Actress for her turn as the Doctor's companion Donna Noble and the BBC One sci-fi show itself was named Best Loved Drama for the third year. EastEnders beat its ITV rivals Coronation Street and Emmerdale to Best Soap at the TVQuick and TVChoice awards, hosted by comedian and actor Ben Miller. Charlie Clements, 21, who plays Bradley Branning in the BBC1 soap, won Best Soap Actor for the second consecutive year. BBC ballroom dancing show Strictly Come Dancing won Best Talent Show, over its Saturday night rival the X Factor as well as Britain's Got Talent and Dancing on Ice. Best Reality Show went to The Apprentice, over Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! Former salesman Lee McQueen, winner of the fourth Apprentice series, was at the ceremony. Ant and Dec were presented with Best Entertainment Show for the second consecutive year, with ITV1's Saturday Night Takeaway beating The Friday Night Project, Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and Harry Hill's TV Burp. Loose Women beat the likes of the Paul O'Grady Show, This Morning and Deal Or No Deal in the Daytime category. Best New Drama went to Ashes To Ashes on BBC One, starring Philip Glenister as Detective Chief Inspector Gene Hunt. Top Gear took Best Lifestyle Show and ITV's Benidorm Best Comedy. Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) won Best Soap Newcomer. Yorkshire soap Emmerdale won two awards - Best Soap Actress for Charlotte Bellamy (Laurel Thomas) and Best Soap Storyline for the scenes involving the cot death of Laurel and Ashley's baby. The awards were voted for by readers of TVQuick and TVChoice magazines and took place at London's Dorchester hotel. http://ukpress.google.com/article/AL...Xc36qwGvi5EFmg |
