Question about Life on Mars\' ending (Spoilers)
When Sam woke up/came back to the present, if he was so confused as to whether his time in 1973 was a dream or real, why didn't he Google all his 1973 colleagues and see whether they really exist?
Or, surely the police have a database of previous employees he could have looked them up on? Even better, Annie and Chris would most probably still be alive, so why didn't he look them up?
It was just taken as read that the whole "past" bit was a dream/coma-induced episode. I felt that Sam, being the hero for two series, wouldn't have *sort of* committed suicide to get back to a dream.
Surely he knew that even if he was lucky enough not to die from leaping off a building and ended up back in a coma, he wouldn't be on life supoport forever. I'm guessing months at the most, therefore he would either wake up back in his hated present, or get switched off and die after not a very long time in his personal heaven/1973.
Have I misread things comepletely? Any thoughts?
