I know the budget for American Idol is bigger so therefor they're able to catch bigger fish but I would have really liked to have seen a weekly star mentor in UK version. It gives the contestants confidence to sing in front of and be coached by a well known performer.

Didn't Mariah Carey do something on Fame Academy on BBC a few years ago similar? And isn't Britney due on XF? Or is that just to perform?
